Lady Rose Windsor and Mr George Gilman: 19 July 2008

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
It sucks that none of the news outlets showed pics of the groom. I mean, obviously the agencies had them but weren't able to sell them. I realize there is no public interest in Gilman, hardly any at all in his bride, but still, as it was their wedding......... It's all about Kate though. All about Kate. Kate, Kate, and more Kate. :whistling:

I know how you feel. She has grabbed the limelight in two royal weddings up until now. I wonder how the brides feel, Autumn and Lady Rose. Perhaps if her escort was away she could have stayed away as well. If you see some of the comments in The Telegraph other people feel the same too. :whistling:

Wow....Anne when way back in the closet for that hideous dress. It doesn't look any better than it did in 1981...it looks she got egged. What in the world was she thinking???

I know these people have big houses, but my god, saving a 30 year old dress???, I wonder if she's never given a stitch of clothing to charity. Or maybe she was just trying to show off the fact that she can still wear the same size after 30 years.

Why should it be Kate's fault that the British press focuses on her rather than on the bride? I see no reason for her to hide at home just because she might make it into the papers. Lady Rose shouldn't have invited Kate if she had feared to be upstaged. It's not like Lady Rose is a very prominent member of the Royal Family anyways. Who knows whether her wedding would have gotten any coverage if it wasn't for Kate. Her engagement certainly went largly unnoticed. And her wedding was apparently not important enough to be attended by many senior members of the Royal Family.
Autumn and Peter made a great deal of money out of selling pics of Kate, Harry and Chelsy. Money they would never have made with pics of merely themselves.I doubt they mind she was there.

Well..while it would have been nice for the Queen to attend..she did two important things...gave her permission (which Rose or at least her father is required to ask for) and loaned Rose the use of her grandmothers (Queen Mary's) tiara (as it is Rose's great grandmother as well). A great use for it in the younger generation.

The tiara belongs to the brides parents. It was a gift from Queen Mary to her daughter-in-law Alice.

All true, it wasn´t Kate Middleton´s fault I agree. Perhaps it is my dislike of her that shines through. Probably an unreasonable dislike but she seems to be trying very hard to nab her prince. Perhaps she has already managed.
In my opinion she is not the right person to become Queen of England.

Oh gee Menarue.........run for cover fast!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Oh Isana.........Lady Rose is a direct descendant of the same Kings and Queens Pr William is. Do you honestly believe that Hello bought the pictures of the Phillips' wedding for Kate and Chelsey's sake?
Do you think that Kate Middleton is more important at this moment than a true royal?

Yes she is from the press point of view. The media coverage shows as much. The first edition of Peter and Autumn in Hello with their pre-wedding interview didn't sell half as well as the one with all the gorgeous pics of Harry, Chelsy and Kate. Sorry but none of the Windsors other than William and Harry are truly interesting to the press when it comes to selling large numbers of papers.

The tiara that Lady Rose wore belongs to the Gloucesters and the current duchess choose to wear it in the first few years after the marriage. Maybe she has given it to Rose as a present who knows but Princess Alice gave alot of her jewels to Birgitte most likey to avoid inheritance tax

Can someone post pics of Anne from 1981 and yesterday? i'd love to see the comparison!

I love the bride's dress.

A lot of people may sell magazines but I would not qualify them as either gorgeous or interesting.

I thought this tiara was the Lover's Tiara...which belongs to the Queen. Does anyone have a closer shot of the tiara?

And yes, for the moment...Kate is picture that will make a mortgage payment. But make no mistake...Lady Rose is and will always be a member of the royal family...minor or not. And if Kate (which is a big if) doesn't marry William...Rose will still be a member of the royal family.

And she makes a gorgeous bride. I can't find any pics of the Earl of Ulster...I can't imagine he missed the wedding.

Zonk ive got some info on the tiara worn by Lady Rose at her wedding
Gloucester Leafage Tiara - Bow brooche - Hochzeitsgeschenke Leafage Tiara given to Alice on the occasion of her wedding by ger gusband the Duke of Gloucester
http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=76669&d=1105109297 Another picture of the current Duchess in the tiara

Question for other members if you can answer that would be great
In this picture of Lady Rose you can see she is wearing two diamond clips at the top of the neckline of her dress - do they belong to the Duchess or can someone help me find where they have come from

Princess Anne? What is there to say? The dress (and, most especially, the hat) was horrible in 1981 and still is. Who on earth not only keeps a dress and hat for 27 years ... but, wears it at another high profile wedding. My God, if I was Lady Rose, I'd be "spooked" that she wore that dress to my wedding. It's a giant jinx.

And, that hat! It looked to be all "squished down" ... as if she found in lying on the floor of the closet after all these years and said, "... oh, so there's where I put that hat. I think I'll wear it again."

:bang:

PrincessofEurope! Thanks so much for the pics.

The tiara that Rose wore does look like the Lover's Tiara (which is in hte possession of the Queen I believe) but when you get close up...its similar but not the same.

In 1981, Paris Match wrote that Princess Anne looked like she was wearing scrambled eggs on her head!

I have to admire her for being able to fit into the 27 year old dress. I wish that I could still fit into the clothes that I wore in 1981!!!

All the best,
marysusan

I really can't believe Anne would wear a dress that she wore in 1981. It looked God-awful 27 years ago, she couldn't possibly think that in that time, it would look better. I like when royals recycle outfits, but come on.

:ohmy:Princess Anne! While it's admirable to recycle one's "public" outfits, she could have at least worn a different hat, and maybe removed some of the ruffles. Change it up a little bit!

I think I am the only one that doesn't mind and actually almost likes Anne's dress! If you look close there are light polkadots and the yellow "eggs" are actually tulips. It's not bad.

And major kudos that she can still fit in it! Horseback riding must be a great workout!

i love those details about anne. she could easily buy a new outfit. instead, she recycles one from the (not unmemorable!) wedding of his brother and lady diana. one has got to have a lot of class to pull that off! she really shows distinction, imo, always. i believe it's not the first time she recycles a wedding outfit from some years ago.

my favourite was lady gabriella windsor, she looked faboulous. kate was also lovely and it's nice to know she is invited to events of the not-so-close part of the family. she looks like she is well accepted. not sure about autumn phillips outfit though...

In the IBL gallery I've found this very cute pic of Alexander,
Earl of Ulster ( Lady Rose's brother) his wife Claire and their
son Xan Richard Anders, only 16 months old - surely the cutest
and smallest guest at the wedding :)

Thanks iceflower.
I think Xan looks a lot like Prince Christian of Denmark, what do you guys/girls think?

It does make you wonder, doesn't it?

The Sun also reports that the tiara belonged to Queen Mary, so I think you're right about it being the Iveagh. It's gorgeous, and Rose looks beautiful! Kate ... has looked better.

I've read that Princess Anne, Peter and Autumn, and the Wessexes were there ... any other royals? Was the Queen supposed to go?
Princess Anne was at the wedding. I believe she was wearing the dress she wore to Charles and Di's wedding
