Anecdotes/interesting little facts: During the ceremony rehearsal, one of the pages fell to the floor and two teeth fell out. But the actual wedding ceremony went fine.

I have read it somewhere, don't remember where though. Maybe it was in the Queen's book, not sure.

Wow! That has to be the ugliest wedding dress by far of all the royal brides I've seen on this site. Luckily she is gorgeous and has worn far more beautiful things over the years. But boy, she really looked at that and said "Oh I love it! It's perfect!" Yuck!

Pre-wedding
One night before the wedding there was a big Gala (or concert?) for King Carl Gustav and Silvia Sommerlath.
It was a big event where Sweden's Popband ABBA :) attended.
They performed "dancing queen" there for the first time.
I think this was a quiet cute idea, to invite them to sing there. I love the costumes. ( sadly I have no picture of Silvia... would love to know what she wore )
Rafaels and Stefans pictures
It was the first time Silvia and Anni-Frid , now Princess Reuss,"met". They became close friends long long time after this event.

you know what, I watched this wedding live on tv in 1976, when I was 6 years old (so of course, this royal bride is one of my all time favorites as a result!), but I didn't realize until that wonderful newsletter from last month, that by the time of his wedding, Carl Gustav in fact had already lost <both> his parents!
The other thing only occuring to me now that I see this thread, is how much Victoria takes after Silvia's mother!

Dumb question, but why was their wedding kiss so "infamous"? It looked sweet and very normal to me!

I love the photo of Carl Gustaf helping Silvia into the carriage and holding her flowers. I find that so gallant. In some of the more recent royal weddings, the poor bride has had to get into the car/carriage with no help from the new husband!

Maybe it was just so infamous, because it was very unsual back then that the Royal Couple kisses right after the wedding. I can't remember any other of the Current Kings/Queens being kissed after the wedding (sadly ).

While I watched the video I understand that the King teached the queen the swedish language! Is that correct? My swedish isn't that good to understand everything!
I really have to say that I love the reaction of the king after one anwer of the furure Queen! It was a good way of the king to show his love!
Reporter(to the future Queen): You are not from a royalfamily, but now you are going to marry the king of Sweden! Did you have to think twice before you made up your mind about that your husband is the king of Sweden, that the man you are going to marry?
The future Queen: I had to think once!
Reporter: So it doesn't matterthat the mn you are going to marry is a king or not just anybody?
The future Queen: Well, I think if you are love someone it doesn't matter if he's a director, or if he's a president of a company, or if he's a king!
The King(wispering): Who loves you!

Is that Prince Charles in the last row somewhere in the middle? If it's him, he looks very funny in that picture!
