Albert was 25, turned 2 months before; Paola was 21, less then two months later she turned 22. She was a really young and beautiful bride.

The day of his wedding Prince Albert , Prince de Liège, wore the collar of the order of Malta such as his father ex-King Leopold III.
We have a high national order , the order of Leopold , which doesn't have any collar only a sash.
King Baudouin wore on his wedding day the spanish Charles (III ?) collar.
(The same one President Sarkozy wore on the State visit of France to Spain)

 Thanks for posting the pictures, stephanievl! Although I've seen the lovely first one several times before, either I didn't notice that big "royal Belgian" lion next to Paola or those other versions of the photo didn't include it. Anyway, the young bride seems to present the proud animal with a gracious smile  ...

I can't really see it from the pictures - but was Paola wearing a tiara?
I was wondering - Fabiola was wearing the 9 provinces - but she became Queen that day.
Paola?
Astrid - no tiara at all.
Mathilde - yes, the Art Deco tiara.
Claire - yes, her own.
So - in case Paola also wore a tiara on her wedding day (after all she was a born princess) - why did Astrid not do it?
