Pilar needed to renounce her rights of succession to the Spanish throne to marry a commoner as stipulated by the Pragmatic Sanction of Charles III on marriages of members of the royal family.

The article is not quite correct, I am afraid. Under the terms of the Pragmatic Sanction, an unequal marriage concluded without the approval of the monarch would result in the automatic renunciation of dynastic rights. But if the monarch granted permission for an unequal marriage, the issue would still be excluded, but the parent could maintain her or his own dynastic rights.
