Princess Margaretha and Prince Niklaus of Liechtenstein have their first Child burried in the Church of Laeken.
Normally the minor Royals are on the second row. Princess Lea who married 3 times has her Children for the Mass. Prince Alexander really loved them.

But Prncess Lea is not correctly dressed as often, she attends more people events than royal events.

I don't see the problem to be honest. The King, head of the Royal House, and the Queen, escorted by members of the royal family, did attend the Mass. The two top figures were there. Two other top figures (Albert II and Paola) have retreated from public life. Prince Astrid could have been there but in essence the family was represented enough, I think. Prince Laurent, tja...., it is more handy when he keeps away from these events, I think. The Queen was wonderfully dressed with hat and gloves. Perfect.

The tradition was that each Royal attend the Mass for their deceased members.

Since King Philip and the boss her Majesty ,There is no tradition anymore ! No Family for the Christmas Concert, small family for the new years wishes , and to-day no members of the main Branch escorted the King and the Queen.

Probably reflective of the change. Astrid and Laurent have gone from the children of the king, to the siblings of the king. We will likely see the same in the UK when Charles is king. Where the majority of events once attended by the queen's extended family, will mainly focus on Charles and his family.

Though in this case it would have been nice to see more, since it was a memorial for the entire family. They all have someone buried there to remember.

What I see in Belgium is the same as in other royal families with a new King: more focus on the core royals. In Spain and the Netherlands the siblings and other family have "disappeared". In both countries we see the present King, the former King and the future King and their spouses as the core family. Belgium is also going that way: the focus on Philippe, Mathilde and Élisabeth.

Normally I'd be OK with that, except for the fact that Astrid and Laurent still get public funding and live in royal residences. To me, that means they are still considered official members of the Royal House.

I think as long as they are still doing patronages and representing their brother the appendages are okay. But events like this or Christmas, seem to be along the lines of Trooping of the color, something ceremonial more than an actual 'work' engagement IMO. It seems natural that the focus on ceremonial events would be more on the king and his family. My only issue is with this particular event as it is a family memorial service.

This is more a private than a public evenement: attending a Mass for the memory of deceased members of the family Van België/De Belgique/Von Belgien.

It would have been nice to see the whole family there, especially because it´s a family memorial service. However, I understand that with new king the whole situation is different.

I watched it live in TV5. Very touching ceremony and glad to see the whole royal family

.

On May 25 Queen Paola as President of the Patron's Council of Missing Children Europe, King Albert and Princess Astrid attended the International Missing Children's Day celebration in Brussels. It was also the 15th anniversary of Missing Children Europe.

To day at Florennes, more than 100 cars were parked in large meadows. It started raining so heavely that they could not drive anymore and one by one a tractor put their cars out of the meadow.

Have to kind of laugh at the boys. A bit of a mix on the old 'dress them the same'. If they were the same height, I would think they mixed and matched 2 suits. One in red jacket and navy pants, the other in navy pants and red jacket

Nice to see Philippe out with the boys at the event :)

Yes ideed , I did not notice the old dress the same, but Prince Gabriel is changing a lot.

It was nice to see Gabriel and Emmanuel with Philippe yesterday. Emmanuel looks so much like his father.

Emmanuel can't deny he's his father's son, he's like a little clone of Philippe: same eyes, bone structure, even the same hair! :D

Gabriel is growing a lot, I think he might end up being around Amedeo's height or even taller at the rate he's going.

They are all so handsome!

Prince Laurent was the Official Prince representing the King and the Queen.
Princess Lea was Guest.
They did not came to-gether

Princess Astrid was not that smiling but she attends.
No show up from Laurent and Claire!
