I love Mathilde's outfit today. Haven't we seen this before at another royal occasion?

What is going on? I love the Belgian royals, they are one of my fave RF's. But what is going on with the color scheme of today's events? I have had this same criticism of Queen Paola the last couple of times I've seen her. Nothing exciting about the colors she's been wearing and to many like colors from her lately.
Then today, Paola, Fabiola, Claire, and Mathilde(although hers looks white or ivory so slightly different) but basically all are wearing such similar colors. Is there a reason or did it just end up like that, does anyone know? It just seems a little odd to me when I look at the pictures. No pink, orange, purple, violet, blue(light or dark), instead all the women are in various shades of tan/taupe and one is in ivory/white. Weird!

Thanks everyone for the pictures. Everyone looked great, but where was my favorite, Amadeo? I miss him so... we have not seen a picture of him in some time.

I was speaking only of the church service today. And I didn't say there was no color just all the women were wearing just similar colors. All colors are just variations of the other. It just looked a little odd to me. Also I think that Queen Paola in recent weeks has been less than spectacular with her wardrobe, to many like colors that she has been wearing. Come on Queen Paola, spice it up a bit!
p.s. great pics that you included not sure why but there are always so few pictures of events involving the Belgians royals.

To all Belgian members,
What else goes on for your National day, I'm curious. I see all that the royal family does as part of the celebrations. But what do the members of the public do? Are there special things that people like to eat as part of the celebrations? Are there fireworks at night?
Here in America our Independence day is celebrated by having barbecues consisting of favorites like hamburgers, hot dogs, maybe even steak. Apple pie is hugely popular for dessert too. And we of course have huge fireworks displays all over the country at night. Outdoor concerts are also another popular part of our Independence day.

Amedeo was not there today. I heard Princess Astrid say that one of her children is in Shanghai at the moment and one is on holiday with his/her friends (Maria Laura or Amedeo), Joachim was away with his friends in Belgium and the two little ones where at the defile. So that's why there are now pictures of Amedeo.

The activities are manly in Brussels! In the morning the is the " Te Deum" all over the country that is a church service, a song of praise! The royal family devises themselfs all over the country. The king, queen Paola and queen Fabiola always go to Brussels. This year Mathilde and Filip went to Gent, Astrid and Lorenz to Luik and Claire and Laurent to Büllingen.
In the afternoon their is every year a military parade in Brussels the royal family is present to.
the whole day their are activities in Brussels for the public. Their was a police village, Filip and Mathilde visited that. There was a demostration of different sports in the park, Laurent and Claire went there. Astrid and Lorez visited the European village and the queen visited stands of the purveyors to the royal house.
The museums in Brussels are open and you can visit it for only 1 euro. Their is an open day in the parlament, senat and other public building.
At 23h their is a fireworks in Brussels.
The evening before the national day there is a concert in Brussels fot the people and the royal family goes to a clasic concert.
For Belgians 21july is at the first place a holiday. They do not celebrate is special, no special food ore something. It is a day of and they enjoy themselfs with the childern. It is only in Brussels that there are many celebrations.

Thanks Stephanievl. I was just curious! Interesting that the main celebrations take place in Brussels. I would have to say that in the U.S. though our capital has celebrations still all over the U.S. there are great celebrations. And many different large cities are featured on television specials in the evening. But just like in Belgium it's also definitely a day to enjoy ones self and family.
