Im not sure if this is the right thread it seems there are many royals from different coutries at the Astrid exhibition today and they should all be in the Belgium forum I belive? Just move it if it is the wrong place.

I was surprised to see how much Princess/Archduchess Marie-Astrid resembles her late mother.Wow! I had to look twice..hopefully we'll see more pics soon..

This is such a lovely event, it's incredible how vivid the image of Queen Astrid still is in our memories today, and I guess especially in Belgium she's still very much remembered. I wish we would have a special postage stamp issued if Astrid here in Sweden as well, but unfortunately The Post has been on other tracks and has instead issued other special editions this year... :(

Queen Silvia looked wonderful, I love her outfit and the necklace! Mathilde looked great as well, I love that deep aubergine-ish colour she's wearing! And Queen Fabiola is adorable as always, and still going strong. As is Grand Duke Jean, he looks very handsome still. It's nice to see the older generations.

Ok, lovely pictures and all, but can someone explain to me why--besides a great excuse for strengthening diplo ties between a few royal households who are related to each other via the person celebrated--this 100th b-day of astrid is being leveraged to build an event around?

I mean, as far as I'm aware, the Dutch don't celebrate King Willem's 300th b day, Wilhelmina's 100th, or whatever?? And the British don't invite everyone to mull over the 100 b day of King George?
