Royals Who Are Attending 2012 London Olympics

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
In fact, it's you who has just dubbed the other family members there "lesser mortals", not me. I simply stated that they're probably the most recognisable faces that the officials and volunteers (mostly British) will see in the Park. The Queen and DoE didn't wear credentials at any stage while in the Park, is that an insult to competitors and other royals too?

The badges are first and foremost for identification, which is unnecessary for senior British royals who are in their own country.

Yes, I think the argument that the security rules don't apply to William and Kate when they apply to more senior British Royals (the Duchess of Cornwall), more senior foreign Royals (Albert, Charlene and all of the Crown Princely couples) and other country's VIPs (Mrs Obama), is insulting. David Beckham is probably as recognisable, if not more so, that William and Kate - do you think he doesn't need credentials either?

My reference to "lesser mortals" was tongue in cheek. I don't consider anybody to be a lesser mortal, royal or non-royal.

As for the the credentials being unnecessary for senior Royals, all of the British Royal Family, with the exception of the Queen and (I think) the Duke of Edinburgh, have been wearing them, so clearly they are necessary.

Prince Philip is going to watch sailing and Princess Anne is at the Olympic Park.

EDIT: Prince William and Harry watching Helen Glover and Heather Standing get Team GBs first gold, and first ever gold for GB women's rowing.
Thanks for the updates. I didn't know about the event for Princess Anne and Prince Philip. And oh really they saw the gold medal win? Omg I'd kill for pics of their reaction
Found some from today

What happen with Prince Charles? Because I have not seen him in the competions

The Prince, along with theDuchess of Cornwall attended the start of the men's road race at the weekend. Otherwise he has been carrying out "normal" royal duties that have not involved the Olympics.

Not sure where he is today but earlier in the week he was up in Scotland carrying out regular engagements. Life must go on even with the Olympics happening in London.

It's clear that the security rules don't, in practice, apply equally to everyone, and were never likely to. The Queen was accompanied by most of Locog, and the Olympic hierarchy on her visit to the park and at no stage was she asked to wear visible credentials. David Cameron didn't wear visible credentials, on occasions Boris Johnson hasn't either.

I have no doubt that members of the public will be required to wear their ID at all times. But who's going to go up to the Queen or the PM and tell them to wear those ugly lanyards or risk expulsion from the Park? Some VIPs obviously are happy to wear them, while others prefer not to. Chances are, if they're easily recognised, they're probably not going to be taken to task for it. Not really fair, but it's just the way things work.

Well, there is a world outside the Olympics and that world needs attention as well. I haven't seen any posts about the Queen attending anything either, except for the opening ceremony.

It's also worth remembering that the earl of Wessex is patron of British Paralympics so the earl and countess will be attending many more events during the Paralympics. And I can bet that wills, Kate and co won't attend the Paralympics! Not nearly glamorous enough for them ;-)

ouch!
Will, Kate and Harry are the amassadors for the Paralympics as well as the Olympics. The original announcement stated they would be attending events of both games.

Lol my comment was very tongue in cheek! But I stand by my point- I think we will see more of the Wessexs during the Paralympics

I suspect they will attend if only because the Paralympics generally receive very little media attention. Royal attendance may be the only thing that draws public attention to these games.

I'm heading out tonight so before I forget here's tomorrow's schedule for William and Kate

I caught a glimpse of the Duke of Kent on NBC's coverage of the Women's Gymnastics Team Final. Of course, NBC didn't know who he was, but I recognized him!

According to @RoyalReporter, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected at Wimbledon today, where Andy Murray takes on Spain's Nicolas Almagro.

BBC 3 are showing the match at Wimbledon, we're still in the warm-up. Big cheer by the crowd just now as William and Kate take their seats. Kate's wearing a royal blue dress (I assume, I could only see them from the waist up) with a black blazer.
