HH the Emir Receives Message from Russian President
HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani received a message from President Dmitry Medvedev of the Russian Federation pertaining to bilateral relations between the two countries and the latest developments in the region. The message was handed by HE Russian Ambassador to Qatar Vladimir Titorenko when HH the Emir received him Wednesday at the Emiri Diwan.
The meeting was attended by HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Emiri Diwan Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah.
 
HH the Emir Holds Meetings :
HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani met at the Emiri Diwan this morning HE Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of France Admiral Edouard Guillaud and his French delegation on the occasion of their visit to Qatar. During the meeting, they discussed the ties of cooperation between the two countries and the latest developments in the region. The meeting was attended by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah.
 
HH the Emir Meets with Total's CEO
HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani met at his Emiri Diwan Office at noon Sunday with Total''s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Christophe de Margerie and his accompanying delegation who called on HH to greet him on the occasion of their visit to the country. HE the Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah attended the audience.
 
HH the Emir Receives Group Chief Executive of HSBC
HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani received today at his Emiri Diwan office Group Chief Executive of HSBC Stuart Gulliver and his accompanying delegation who called on HH the Emir to greet him on the occasion of their visit to Qatar. The audience was attended by HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Emiri Diwan Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah.
 
Qatar National Development Strategy Launched

Doha, March 28 (QNA) - In the presence of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani launched the Qatar National Development Strategy 2011-2016 at a ceremony held at the Doha Sheraton Hotel.

The ceremony was attended by HH Special Adviser to HH the Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani.
It was also attended by HE Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Emiri Diwan Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah,

and a number of their excellencies Sheikhs, Ministers, the Speaker of the Advisory Council and Council''s members. At the beginning of the ceremony, the national anthem of the State of Qatar was played, followed by a recitation of verses from the holy Quran. Then, a group of children appeared on the stage carrying with them the keys of the different government sectors.:flowers:

HH the Emir Receives Head of the Libyan Transitional National Council

Doha, April 18 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani met at Al Wajbah Palace here before noon Monday Chairman of the Libyan Transitional National Council (LTNC) Mustafa Mohamed Abdul Jalil and his accompanying delegation marking their current visit to Qatar. HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani attended the audience.
 
HH the Emir Welcomes Jordanian Monarch Upon Arrival in Doha

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser led the well-wishers on Tuesday to welcome King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein of Jordan and Queen Rania Al Abdullah and their accompanying delegation upon their arrival at Doha International Airport for a one-day working visit to Qatar.
HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was also on hand to welcome King Abdullah II and Queen Rania upon their arrival at the airport.

HH the Emir Hosts Luncheon Banquet in Honor of Jordanian King

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser hosted a luncheon banquet at Al-Wajba Palace today in honor of King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein of Jordan and Queen Rania Al Abdullah. The luncheon banquet was attended by HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Doha, May 03 (QNA) -HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) attended this evening the convocation ceremony of the fourth batch of students from the Education City.

Qatar Foundation has named its new, multidisciplinary university Hamad bin Khalifa University, in honour of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.
HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser made the announcement during the senior convocation ceremony at Qatar Foundation (QF) last night, where she praised the efforts of the Emir in furthering education and developing human potential.

HH the Emir''s Cup Final Match

Doha, May 21 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani patronized this evening the final match featuring Al Rayyan and Al Gharafa at the Khalifa International Stadium in which Al Rayyan registered 2-1 victory over Al Gharafa. The match was attended by HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and HH the Personal Representative of the Emir Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, and HH the Special Advisor to the Emir Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Following the match, HH the Emir handed over the trophy and gold medals to Al Rayyan Club players and the silver medals to Al Gharafa Club players.

HH the Emir Opens the First Regional Conference on the International Criminal Court

Doha, May 24 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani patronized Tuesday the opening of the First Regional Conference on the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. The opening was attended by a number of Their Excellencies Sheikhs, HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council, a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers, heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to the country and guests.
 
Emir to visit Turkey

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani is going to visit Turkey tomorrow.
This is the first visit to Turkey by a foreign leader after the recent reelection of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul receiving the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani at the Presidential Palace in Ankara yesterday. Qatar and Turkey held a session of talks chaired by the Emir and Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Emir to attend QU graduation

DOHA: Qatar University (QU) yesterday announced that the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, will honour with his presence its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2011, which will be held on November 29 in QU stadium

HH the Emir Meets Greek Prime Minister

Athens, June 28 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani met in Athens this evening Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou.
During the meeting, they reviewed the relations between the two countries in various fields as well as the current developments in the Arab world.
 
Has anyone ever been to the Arab Museum of Modern Art in Qatar?


I would love to go, I hear that the Royal family of Qatar are some of the world's best art collectors and that - as another poster said previously - Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani has even said that he would like to purchase Christie's itself if/when it is sold!

Mathaf is the outgrowth of more than two decades of activity by QMA’s Vice-Chairperson, His Excellency Sheikh Hassan bin Mohamed bin Ali Al-Thani. The collection was adopted originally by Qatar Foundation, who safeguarded it for four years before QMA took the Museum on as a Museums Authority project, at which point the current partnership was formed. As the catalyst of this project, Sheikh Hassan has encouraged creativity in Qatar and throughout the region with his longtime commitment to Arab artists.

Overseeing the establishment and opening of Mathaf is QMA Chairperson Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

Emir to attend signing of Sudan peace accord

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani will witness on Thursday the signing of a peace agreement between the Sudanese government and the Liberation and Justice Movement, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud told Qatar News Agency (QNA).
