I'll tell you truthfully, I don't know how Kate can balance on those heels and if that were me wearing those stilts, I'd be on my keister!

It was nothing at all! Brave was Victoria Beckham pregnant with a 9 month belly and her heels way higher!

Yeah Victoria is a major high heel wearer. I take my hat off to her. I'm sure the women who can wear heels flawlessly, have had to practice in them.

Oh those heels are nothing! I wear heels way higher than that and I love them! Must admit she looks beautiful and graceful.

Is this her first solo engagement??

:previous: It's her first planned solo engagement. She filled in for Prince Charles in October of last year, at a dinner to aid In Kind Direct, when Charles was obligated to travel to Riyadh to offer his condolences upon the death of the Crown Prince:

Kate Middleton performs first solo engagement - Telegraph

About her heels ... I thought I was the Queen of Heels. I can run, dance, walk up and down stairs in them ... but only in 3-inch heels. I wouldn't attempt even walking a straight line in any as high as she wore. She's one well-balanced lady! :)

I Think She Look Gorgeous , I Like The shoes Look Very Elegant & Diamond Bracelet Look Very unique :flowers:

A bit more on next week's engagement via 'MAJESTY' Magazine's facebook page:

The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron, will visit the National Portrait Gallery’s 'Road to 2012: Aiming High' exhibition on 19 July, St James's Palace has announced.

The Duchess will join selected guests at the launch of the exhibition and meet some of the photographers and sitters involved in the Road to 2012 project.

There will be four short speeches during the opening of the exhibition, including one from Tanni Grey-Thompson, the UK’s most successful Paralympian and Ambassador for the London 2012 bid team.

I do know via NPG it will be sometime in the morning
Portrait Gallery ‏@NPGLondon @GaryFry2012 The Duchess will be attending an opening event for the ‪#Roadto2012 exhibition, which will open to the public at 12pm.
Hence that means she'll be seeing it in the morning cause I doubt she'd go see it after it was open to the public. I think she's prob gonna get the first viewing. Either way I'll be here all night waiting but I'll prob only be able to stay till bout 1:30am PST since I got an early morning tomorrow.

Need sleep so I'm out for the night. It's been fun glad I was able to stick around this time and take part. Looks like updates are slowing down so I reckon we won't get much more till later when pro pics are released and articles are put together. I'm sure they'll be posted by other members in due time and when I get up I'll add in whatever I can find that hasn't already been posted.

Wherever she goes, and especially on official occasions, Kate is accompanied by an assistant who probably has everything necessary at hand.
It's a bit like the Queen's bag; while Her Majesty is always seen with her trusty Launer bags, her lady-in-waiting carries a much larger brown bag with all necessities.

She is very pretty. I like her dress so much. Nevertheless, I always feel so insecure when I see her without any bag... even driven by a car, I can not understand how a woman can step out without even not a lipgloss or her mobile phone. Unless she has a bag, which she lets into the car...

That's what ladies-in-waiting or assistants are for (probably Rebecca Deacon in Kate's case). Kate's not going to start texting in the middle of an official engagement, or touching up her lipstick (although I seem to remember the Queen doing so at least once on a visit). While I'm sure the Queen keeps a few bits and pieces in her handbag, I'd hazard a guess that her LIWs are carrying more items that might be needed - like a spare pair of tights, for example. Personally, I prefer not to carry handbags, as I feel much more comfortable with both hands free.

The DM article states that Kate wrote her dissertation at St. Andrew's on the photography of Lewis Carroll, author of Alice in Wonderland. Did we know this already?

I've heard the dissertation thing before, never really gave it much credit.

............

Yes we did, somewhere in one of the many, many, many old Kate Middleton threads is a link to a list from St. Andrews for the dissertation topics and results for Kate, William and everyone else that year.

I must have missed that. It's a very interesting choice, particularly given the controversy about Carroll's tendency to photograph little girls, often in a state of undress. The literary community have long debated Carroll's motives in doing so. Certainly not a 'safe' choice by Kate.

Is it a Cartier Trinity necklace?

It is. Check the jewellery thread out, just discovered it's worth £49,000.

oh kate really is bautiful!

Thanks!
Normal price! They are both very rich by their own.

wow. 49k is definitely lots for a neckless. i wonder if this was a gift by someone or she bought it on her own (maybe it was lent by cartier?). i personally don't find it very appropriate in these economic climate to wear a 49k piece of jewelry so casually, for a daytime event.

appart from that, she looked lovely and the dress was perfect for her.
