Will the people of twitter question why William is not accompanying Kate to this event ? Since they are too busy wondering why she isn't going to the Centrepoint gala even though it's William's patron?

Very inspiring story. Animals really do have healing properties . In learning to care for and heal bob, James finally learned to heal and care for himself. People often see fogs as the companion pets, used to help people with PTSD and other issues. But cats can often as well.

AH beautiful Bob. Read this story last year and it's very inspiring. Bob looks like my own Ginger, The SPikester. Not so people-friendly though – if Kate turned up to try to pat Spike, there would be blood and tears (tears on cheeks and tears up that billowy white dress)

A difficult childhood and mental health problems pushed Harry into a drug-using world at a young age.

His film 'Harry's story' became the winning entry in the first ever Recovery Street Film Festival, set up by a consortium of addiction charities including Blenheim as a way of exploring drug and alcohol addiction through the medium of film.

Here he shares his incredible story of overcoming addiction, meeting the Duchess of Cambridge and now using his own experience to help others.

"The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of Action on Addiction, will attend the first annual gala dinner in recognition of Addiction Awareness Week, hosted by Action on Addiction and chef Skye Gyngell, and deliver a speech to celebrate the work of the charity."

"Action on Addiction is the only UK addictions charity that works across all the areas of research, treatment, family support and professional education. Addiction Awareness Week, 10-16 June 2019, aims to provide a platform to discuss the many elements of addiction, to engage with people and families affected, and to raise public awareness."

"Before the dinner, Her Royal Highness will meet Action on Addiction clients who are working as apprentices in the kitchen, and will be working with Spring Restaurant’s head chef and owner Skye Gyngell to create the evening’s meal."

"The Duchess will give some opening remarks at the event to recognise the work done by the charity, and talk about how her time as Patron has also inspired other elements of her work."

"Her Royal Highness’s experience with Action on Addiction has helped lay the groundwork for her work and understanding on mental health, and is currently helping inform her work in developing a major project around support for children in their earliest years. Experiences in these earliest moments, before the age of five, are proven to have significant impact on adult lives, including resilience and the ability to cope with adversity."

"Action on Addiction builds communities of recovery for individuals and families by developing the best quality and most effective residential and community-based addiction treatment services in the UK and promoting self-help, peer-to-peer support, and community cohesion. The charity also campaigns to raise the standard of professional education across the addictions field, funds groundbreaking research into different facets of addiction, increases access to treatment for all those who need it, and strives to remove the stigma relating to addiction and associated issues."

Kate has helped bring the scourge of addiction and how it’s wider effect on families into the forefront.

Seven years of involvement with one of her key charities, Action on Addiction, was a “catalyst” for her keen interest early childhood development, the royal mom has said.

Kate, 37, is now sending out “a really important message that addiction is not something that should be hidden away behind closed doors,” says Graham Beech, chief executive of Action on Addiction. “The more people talk about it, the more they can find the help and get the treatment that they need.”

Kate has “helped us to bring addiction out of the shadows and encouraged other people to rally ’round and support what we’re trying to do at a time when addiction is becoming ever more complex and growing in volume,” he adds.

Wonderful read! I am not surprised people feel at ease with The Duchess of Cambridge. She comes across very genuine

Kate is a very down to earth kind of person from what I've seen. She's one of those kind of people that look outside of themselves and see what is going on and does something about it where she can.

She's given a "normal" flavor to being a duchess if I had to explain it in words. We see this more and more as both William and Kate venture out more and more into the roles that they'll have for the rest of their lives and I'm liking what I see. Kate not only comes off as a royal duchess but also very much the young mother with children and being involved in all aspects of their lives too.
