With regards to hair colour, George's eyebrows are really dark so I imagine his hair will darken soon and the blonde is only brief. "True" tow heads have blonde eye brows; just look at Zara and Peter as kids, and even Louise - their eyebrows are barely visible. I am sure this Princess will be a brunette as the blonde gene is recessive, thus both parents must carry the gene. The Middleton's look to be extremely dark haired so I think the brunette gene will win.
 
I think curtesy should be not overstaying especially with a Lady who has just given birth !
 
At least we won't have to wait until the Christening like in Denmark!

Mail reporting new Princess will travel with William and Kate back to Norfolk tomorrow. Queen currently at Sandringham & will meet the baby.

And I'm curious about the eye color. It's so interesting that George got darker eyes than both of his parents. His eyes seem more brown now than green, even though William's are blue and Catherine's are hazel. I wonder if the baby princess will have blue eyes.

Gosh universitylad, I didn't even notice the Duke's belt!

I was so taken by the Duchess' appearance, and little Prince Porcelain Doll, I'm afraid all I saw of Prince William was a blue jumper.

And again with just the Duke and Prince George, my eyes were drawn to PG and his wonderful waving.


(Very disappointed by our Oz mags today - no cover photos for either issues. Maybe not enough time, but for us the Lindo Wing steps was very early hours of Sunday morning, so maybe just a decision not to have the Cambridges on the covers. I'll have to wait for "Hello" to come out.)

There will be a 41 Gun Salute in #HydePark tomorrow to mark the birth of The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge's 2nd child.

I think the princesses name will be announced tomorrow as well.
 
Maybe the name is chosen by the entire immediate family.

Everyone has a look at the baby and decides what name they think is appropriate for the baby. Mike, Carol. Charles and Pippa had their look/input and maybe even Harry gave his suggestions.

The Queen and Philip will take a look at the child and decide what name they think suits her and them William, Catherine and George will make the final decision.

I was hoping we'd get a name today, but maybe tomorrow after a visit with the Queen.

As millions saw the new princess for the first time, the Duchess of Cambridge looked down at her daughter and lovingly said: "She's fast asleep." The Duchess emerged from the hospital and stood on the steps with Prince William as they introduced their daughter to the world.

The doting mother expressed fears the little princess might be "cold" but Prince William reassuringly said: "No, she's fine, she's good." But she lovingly replied: "Let's take her inside."

Despite being used to the public glare, the Duchess still expressed shock and amazement at the crowds gathered to meet her daughter.

Yes paper over here thinks we will know in about 24 hours after the Queens visit to meet the new bub. I wonder when Charles will meet her? Harry is here in Oz so he will have to wait until he get's back.
 
I think it is great that William wants to tell his grandparents in person. There is no rush for the public to know what the name is , it is their baby and this time should be shared as much as possible with their immediate families.

I missed that we had the Logies on over here last night it's all they are talking about plus I'm packing to move. I think it's nice too for the families to meet the new little one. Over here they are saying Charlotte is the front runner.
 
I was having a conversation with one of my British friends about the birth and we chanced to talk about the strange fact that they always disavow knowing the sex of the baby. We decided that it makes perfect sense to so deny for multiple reasons, the main one being that if one says one knows then one is forever in a bind with the press, an endless cat and mouse game. Makes sense. :flowers:

Here in the US, I can't remember the last time I saw staff in a uniform dress! We tend to see scrubs on hospital staff and often it is color coded for department rather than seniority.

The uniform dress is often "the neat tenue", compare it with the police, the firebrigade or the armed forces, which all have a neat tenue with tie, gloves, polished shoes. Also in the UK the nurses and paramedic staff often have differences in colour corresponding to their department or specialism. For an example a staff midwive, a nursery nurse, a healthcare support worker, a staff nurse, a specialist nurse, a charge nurse, a ward sister, etc. The midwives whom stood outside were in their neat uniform. I am sure they were not wearing that uniform and those ladylike polished leather shoes when the Duchess was in labour....
 
Pressies for a princess.

Australia is giving baby Princess Cambridge a merino wool blanket from Tasmania.

It's to be embroidered with a wattle design.

(Tassie merino wool is the finest in the world - Google the "Zegna" award if you're interested.)

And, as PG has a bilby here in Oz, so baby sister is getting a pygmy possum.

I heard a name will be announced sometime day as William and kate want to tell the queen in person and the story goes that they will see the Queen sometime today

Actually it was a very small part in a very long article with just about everything you ever wanted to know about the new Princess. I just found that part interesting as far as the British economy goes.

There's even an active clock in the article showing exactly how old the wee one is now. :D
 
I wonder if they are waiting for the official gun salute before they leave Kensington Palace? Or maybe they will announce the name just before the gun salute?

From what I was reading about the gun salutes, they're very loud. I would imagine with 2 small children in the car, they'd tend more to avoid the gun salutes. They are supposedly driving to Anmer Hall today and going to show the baby to the Queen and the DoE so probably after that, the name will be announced.
 
I guess my thinking was that they would stay in the Palace but just wait until the gun salutes were over before leaving for Anmer.
 
There will be a 41 gun salute by the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery in Hyde park and a 62 gun salute by the Honourably Artillery Company at the Tower of London 2pm BST to honour the birth of the new Princess.

Westminster Abbey will also do a full peal that takes over three hours to complete.

I am glad I don't live anywhere near those locations for the next few hours!

It is nice that royal births everywhere get the gun salute as it's very traditonal. Everyone bar Zara, Louise and James received a gun salute. Peter received one for being the first grandchild of the Queen but normally he would not have received a gun salute.
 
I was looking at some old tweets and Prince George name was announced around 6pm London Time. If we get a name today I would it would before 7pm for tomorrow newspapers.
