Prince William: Visit to New Zealand and Australia - January 17-21, 2010
Prince William is set to visit Sydney and Melbourne in January 2010, as was announced by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd earlier today.
From the article linked below:
"Prince William is visiting Australia after travelling to New Zealand to officially open the new Supreme Court in Wellington. The visit originated from a request to the Government of Australia by Prince William to visit the country so as to begin to get to know Australia and its people."

WA Today states that William will arrive in Australia on January 19th, and will spend three days in Melbourne and Sydney.

That's less than three months away then! Opening a Supreme Court is a high-profile job. I'm sure that William will be equal to the task.

Oh yes I think the same. I'm looking forward to his visit to Sydney for sure.
I also think he'll do fantastic, unless the jet-lag & time difference hits him. 11 hours difference is not easy to adjust to that fast and he's only here for three days

PRINCE William will visit Victoria's bushfire-devastated areas when he visits Australia in January.
The three-day trip (January 19-21) is an addition to his plans to travel to New Zealand for the opening of the new Supreme Court in Wellington.

I think this visit has been "hyped" up to be some massive change in Williams career, all the Shadow King articles mention this trip and honestly I don't think thats what William or the palace wanted for this trip.
He will be met by a lot of female fans and some hardcore royalists, but I suppose like the Canada trip it will spark referendum talk.

I think you can also expect to see a haka and a powhiri performed for him as a part of his welcome. Pretty standard these days, but still an honor.

The New South Wales Government says it is hoping Prince William's visit to Sydney next week will provide valuable publicity in the lucrative UK tourism market. The Prince will attend a barbecue for young people hosted by Kristina Keneally and visit Australian troops during his informal two day visit to the city next week.

Prince William has visited NZ (as was mentioned above) as an infant and also unofficially - he was here during the Lions Tour around the time of the London bombing.
The visit is starting to generate some attention in the press now, especially with the postponment of Hillary Clintons visit...

I heard on the news last night that there will not only be the hangi, but also a bbq hosted by PM John Key

mentions the hangi, bbq (but does not mention the PM), sailing, court, and also the rugby world cup and a visit to the childrens hospital
And a much longer article, from the NZ Herald. this one is writter in a slightly different vein
