^^^ Details

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will travel to Cumbria on Tuesday 11th June to celebrate the resilience and spirit of rural and farming communities in the region.

Their Royal Highnesses will first visit the market town of Keswick where they will join a celebration to recognise the contribution of individuals and local organisations in supporting communities and families across Cumbria. They will meet volunteers including those from the local mountain rescue service, community first responders, young people trained as mental health first aiders and other organisations that have benefitted from grants from the Cumbria Community Foundation.

Before departing Keswick, The Duke and Duchess will spend some time in the Market Square meeting members of the public gathered outside.

Their Royal Highnesses will then visit a traditional fell sheep farm, where they will have the opportunity to meet members of the Cumbrian farming community, and learn about some of the key challenges farmers are facing. They will also hear about the peer support networks helping those in the most rural areas and the innovative ways some farms are diversifying. The Duke and Duchess will then spend time on the farm helping with activities such as sheep shearing.

Cumbria is home to the English Lake District, which was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2017, and to England’s largest lake – Windermere – and highest mountain – Scafell Pike. The rural county is visited by millions each year, making tourism key to the economy. Farming and agriculture also has a special place in the Lake District National Park, famous for its native Herdwick sheep, and farmers have worked for centuries on some of the most challenging land in the country.

“THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will travel to Asia this autumn for a major official tour.

It is understood the trip will focus on Commonwealth countries, meaning destinations might include Bangladesh, India, Malaysia and Singapore.

Sources believe there is a good chance of a visit to Sri Lanka, where a terror attack on Easter Sunday left at least 258 people dead, but less likelihood of a stop in Brunei, which has attracted criticism for its human rights record. It is believed China was considered but was ruled out.

Fuller details of the tour, which will be weeks apart from a visit by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to Africa, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Kensington Palace declined to comment”

Thanks for the info. But, weren't these countries visited during their first tour of Asia? At least, I know they visited India and Malasya.

Great charities there - should be an exciting race! We have regattas where I live & although I've sailed, I've never raced. I still go to the regattas to watch & take part in all the associated fun & I'm sure they'll have lots of support at Cowes. Let's hope they raise lots of money for all these worthy causes.

The King’s Cup will take place on 8 August and not the 9th because of the weather:

"Due to adverse weather conditions forecasted for Friday in Cowes, The King’s Cup hosted by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will now take place on Thursday 8th August at 1400hrs."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with The King’s Cup charity ambassadors, Fara Williams for @CentrepointUK, Dan Snow for @LDNairamb, Bear Grylls for @Tusk_org, John Bishop for @ActionAddiction, Katie Thistleton for @Place2Be, and Helen Glover for @AFNCCF

Thank you for the update. With that forecast approaching, it was wise to move the date.

Unfortunately Catherine's boat has been disqualified in the 2nd race. Bear Grylls and Tusk have won overall.
