THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE WILL VISIT EVELINA LONDON CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL AND THE PASSAGE

Tuesday 11th December, 2018

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Evelina London Children’s Hospital and homeless resource centre The Passage on Tuesday 11th December.

Their Royal Highnesses will firstly visit Evelina London, which is preparing to mark its 150th anniversary in 2019. Evelina London, which is part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, of which The Queen is Patron, provides comprehensive health services to children and families from before birth, throughout childhood and into adult life. Evelina London also offers specialist services for children with rare and complex conditions from across south London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex and beyond.

The Duke and Duchess will meet a number of children receiving care at the hospital, and will hear more from staff and parents about Evelina London’s life changing care and support for families. Their Royal Highnesses will then join some of the children as they take part in a number of Christmas-themed activities, before joining celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of the hospital.

The Duke and Duchess will then travel to The Passage, where they will hear from frontline workers about some of the challenges relating to street homelessness, including drug addiction and mental health issues. Their Royal Highnesses will also meet a number of The Passage’s service users as they join an arts and crafts workshop to prepare cards and gifts ahead of centre’s Christmas party the following week.

Established in 1980, The Passage provides resources which encourage, inspire and challenge homeless people to make lasting and long-term changes to their lives. The organisation runs the UK’s largest resource centre for homeless and insecurely housed people, a number of homelessness prevention projects and two innovative accommodation services. Since its inception, The Passage has helped over 130,000 people in crisis.

Looks like Will and Kate have an away day on Tuesday

Tues: Kate Middleton and Prince William will travel to Dundee

It seems this person let it slip out as it clearly isn't announced yet. Likely will be later today.

Tuesday 29th January, 2019

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will travel to Dundee to officially open V&A Dundee and greet members of the public on the waterfront. They will then meet with workers from the Dundee Michelin factory and join a meeting of the Michelin Action Group that is working to repurpose the site and ensure new employment opportunities for the local area.

The day will start with The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge officially opening Scotland’s first design museum, V&A Dundee. The establishment of the museum was made possible because of the unique collaboration between V&A, the University of Dundee, Abertay University, Dundee City Council, the UK and Scottish governments, the National Lottery and Scottish Enterprise. The Museum, which is at the heart of a £1 billion waterfront regeneration plan, is already bringing significant economic and social benefits to the local area, helping to reshape the city’s future as a hub for the creative industries.

The Duchess of Cambridge will make a short speech celebrating the addition of this major new cultural centre for Scotland and the UK, in her role as Patron of V&A. The visit will build on Her Royal Highness’s keen interest in promoting the visual arts, and highlighting the value that public institutions like V&A Dundee can offer local communities, particularly in terms of increased accessibility to world-class art and design.

The Duke and Duchess will then travel to meet with employees and their families from the Dundee Michelin factory, to hear first-hand how the factory’s planned closure is affecting them. Following these discussions, Their Royal Highnesses will attend the Michelin Action Group, which is aiming to find and take forward solutions for repurposing the plant and providing a sustainable future for its skilled workforce.

The Duke will give short remarks at the start of the meeting, thanking the action group for its dedicated work to date. He will also highlight what has already been achieved elsewhere in the city thanks to different communities working as a collective. The action group meets regularly and includes representatives from the local council, the Scottish and UK Governments, Union officials, Scottish Enterprise and Michelin

There is very little noise on twitter about this visit, only information is from KP and the V&A in Dundee, doesn't look like many reporters made it up.

Mark Cuthbert made the trip up: https://twitter.com/markacuthbert/st...39830561308674

Prince William and The Duchess of Cambridge have officially opened the V&A Dundee museum.

William and Kate toured the new V&A before the Duchess gave a speech in her role as patron

Great to see the Cambridges again. I always love the interactions between Catherine and children - especially when the little girl couldn't resist temptation in touching her hair!

A young girl reached out and stroked the Duchess of Cambridge’s hair today, as she met well-wishers during a walkabout in Dundee with the Duke of Cambridge.

The 37-year-old royal saw the funny side though, joking with the girl before moving on to shake hands with other people in the crowd

Catherine seems great in interaction but giving (i.e., reading) a speech isn't her greatest talent. She doesn't seem to articulate that clearly at times.
