What a great video! I especially loved Catherine talking to the little boy who was clearly much more invested in eating his marshmallow snowman than he was in talking to royalty, the fact that William licked his fingers while he was filling truffles (wonder who ate those afterwards--it sounds as though the little boy in the video made off with them) and all the overexcited children. Catherine's speech, what I saw of it, seemed heartfelt, too.

Tomorrow they fly to Cyprus for the second half of the Christmas party. They fly into RAF Akrotiri around noontime.

Loved the video of the Christmas party - the little boy eating his snowman marshmallow was one of my favourite parts too; I loved how he didn't seem to care less that he was at an official party and just carried on eating A great festive event for the Cambridges and the children whom they have helped and supported.
Would've been a nice event to take the children too; though as it is a week day George is at school and Charlotte would have been at nursery.

What a wonderful video. Will and Kate really looked as they were enjoying every minute of it. Those marshmallow treats look soooo good. I noticed that when making them, there were boxes on the table. I wonder if they were making "care" boxes for Will and Kate to take to Cyprus. (It may have been mentioned but the video wasn't closed captioned).

The idea of Will and Kate being the go-between for these parties is an amazing one. Meet with the families and spouses the day before and the actual family member serving in Cyprus the next day. Next best thing to the families actually being together. I imagine that there's much more personal videos and group pictures that will be shared in Cyprus tomorrow.

Stuff like this gives me the warm fuzzies.

This was a wonderful event, and obviously very much appreciated by both the family members yesterday, and the service members today. This is one of the things that royalty does best.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this morning departed Royal Air Force Brize Norton for Cyprus and were received upon arrival this afternoon by the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Cyprus (His Excellency Mr Stephen Lillie).

His Royal Highness, Honorary Air Commandant, Royal Air Force Coningsby, and Her Royal Highness afterwards visited Royal Air Force Akrotiri within the Sovereign Base Area.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge later arrived at Royal Air Force Brize Norton from Cyprus. Dr Simon Case, Ms Catherine Quinn, Mr Jason Knauf and Lieutenant Commander David Brannighan RN were in attendance

A fabulous video of the Christmas party! I especially liked the Father Christmas at the party. No Christmas party would be complete without Father Christmas.

RAF Brize Norton seems an odd choice. Its not one I recall them using much. Anyone have a guess as to why the used it for the return?

I'm guessing using the government's plane from Brize Norton to Cyprus is the best way to visit a military base & they could transport other things & people in that plane. Security must be easier too & it'd be cheaper than chartering a private plane I imagine.

They flew military transport-that is probably where the plane and crew is based.

I got it that they flew military. Why a plane from B-N was my question. As in why that base? There are closer bases they have flown out of and into. Both to London and around Anmer.

And they may well have hitched a ride on a plane that was already scheduled to fly at that particular time so there wasn't a choice of air bases.
