Archduke Joseph of Austria, son of Archduke Joseph Arpad and Princess Margarete of Hohenberg is engaged to marry Countess Sophie von Schaesberg

https://royalmusingsblogspotcom.blogspot.com/2022/01/an-imperial-engagement.html

The bride to be, Sophie van Schaesberg, has a Dutch link. The counts van Schaesberg are, together with the counts van Aldenburg Bentinck, the counts van Rechteren Limpurg and the counts von Quadt zu Wykradt the only four "native" Dutch noble families enlisted in Chapter II of the Almanach de Gotha and so belonging to High Nobility to the terms of said Almanach.

Schaesberg Castle in the province Limbourg (South of the Netherlands) has been totally neglected -after damage in WWII- into ruïnous state, but works have started to reconstruct it back in glorious state:

Schaesberg castle back then

Schaesberg castle now

It seems that since 1945 this castle was "controlled" in decay, meaning that original elements are stored in countless depôts and will be used to rebuild the premises, which started in 2021. After WWII the family sold many of the money-swallowing castles but kept the money-generating lands and forests. They still have a castle in Tannheim (Germany). So now and then Johannes Count van Schaesberg attends events in Schaesberg, the Netherlands, for an example to officially start the reconstruction of the castle (Sept 24 2021): picture
