Countess Theresia of Waldburg zu Zeil und Trauchburg died on Sep 25 at Schloß Hogl at the age of 90.

Maria Theresia Walburga Elisabeth Antonia was born on Aug 8, 1931 in Schloß Zeil. She was the third of seven children of Erich August, Prince of Waldburg (1899-1953) and his wife Princess Monika of Lowenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg (1905-1992), and the last of her siblings to pass away.

In 1962 she married Alois, Count von Nostitz-Rieneck (1925-2003). They had four children together: Friedrich (*1963), Monika (*1965), Sophie-Bernadette (*1967), and Franz-Erwein (*1970). She is survived by her children as well as 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In her death notice, there are 9 great-grandchildren: "Friedrich-Otto, Mattäus und Hugo Frhr Mayr von Melnhof, Franz-Anton, Josef und Rudolf Frhr von Waechter, Philippa, Livia und Rosa Frn Mayr von Melnhof".

Archduchess Marie Adelheid of Austria (Sister Alix) died on October 10 at the age of 88.

She was born in 1933 as the fifth of thirteen children of Archduke Hubert Salvator of Austria (1894-1971) and Princess Rosemary of Salm-Salm (1904-2001). In 1963 she joined the Silent Workers of the Cross and became known as Sister Alix. She is survived by eight of her twelve siblings and their families.

Guinevere Else Williamson, who died 13 October, 2021, aged 100, was a scion of the Barons Churchill [cadets of the Duke of Marlborough].

Guinevere Else Spencer was born 6 November, 1920, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Edward Almeric Spencer , OBE [1892-1984], and his wife the former Elsie Winifred Macan [1889-1969]; and was a great-great granddaughter of the 1st Baron Churchill [1779-1845].

She married 6 October, 1945 [div 1975], Major Charles Arthur Wellesley Williamson, MC [1914-1997], son of the Rev Charles Arthur Williamson, by whom she had four sons, Richard, Michael, Francis and Patrick, and a daughter, Sarah.

Carolyn Lucile Peploe [nee Czernin], died 30 October, 2021. She was 80.

She was born 9 May, 1941, as Countess Carolyn Lucille Czernin von und zu Chudenitz, daughter of Squadron Leader Count Manfred Maria Edmund Ralph Beckett Czernin von und zu Chudenitz [1913-62], and his wife the former Maud Sarah Hamilton [b 4 Apr, 1917], scion of the Dukes of Abercorn; and married 9 July, 1966, Charles Norman George Peploe [born 1 September, 1930], son of Capt Charles Reid Peploe [1890-1933], and his wife the former Catherine Mary Macfie [1897-1980], by whom she had issue, two sons, Manfred and Fergus.

Karl Witt von Dörring this year at the age of 69/70.

He was the third of nine children of Countess Caroline von Meran (1920-1965) and Christian Witt von Dörring (1914-2001). From 1978 to 1997 he was married to Clotilde Eeman (*1953) and had three children: Christophe (*1978), Marie (*1980), and Sophie (*1982). Christophe is married to Countess Marie-Aglae d'Aspremont-Lynden and has two children, Charles (*2013) and Alma (*2016). Sophie is married to Audry Dermience and has Arthur (*2013) and Gaspard (*2015).

In addition to his children and grandchildren, Karl is survived by his eight siblings and their families.

Peter Ronald Wise, who has died aged 91, was a descendant of the Baillie landed family of Dochfour, and former husband of a cousin of the Queen.

He was born 29 December, 1929, son of Capt Anthony Forster Wise [1885-1976], and his wife the former Eve Elizabeth Glentworth Baillie [1904-76]. His sister, [Elizabeth] Ursula Forster Wise [who died in 1993], was the first wife of the 3rd Baron Burton, DL [1924-2013], Grand Master Mason in Scotland 1994-2000.

Peter Wise married 29 April, 1965 [divorced 1975], Elizabeth Alice Abel Smith [born 5 September, 1936], scion of that landed family, daughter of Colonel Sir Henry Abel Smith, KCVO [1900-1993], and his wife the Lady May Helen Emma Cambridge [1906-1994], only daughter of HSH Prince Alexander Augustus Frederick William Alfred George of Teck later Alexander Augustus Frederick William Alfred George [Cambridge], 1st and last Earl of Athlone, KG GCB GCMG GCVO DSO PC [1874-1957], and his wife HRH Princess Alice Mary Victoria Augusta Pauline of Albany, VA GCVO GBE [1883-1981], daughter of HRH Prince Leopold George Duncan Albert, 1st Duke of Albany, KG KT GCSI GCMG PC [1853-1884], fourth son of Her Majesty Queen Victoria [1819-1901].

Peter and Elizabeth Wise had a daughter, Emma Charlotte [born 1 Sept, 1973, and who died in infancy, 9 June, 1974].

The late Prince was the most senior Romanov agnate in the male lineage, if I am correct.
 
Prince Don Nicolo Pignatelli Aragona Cortes, Prince di Noia died this year at the age of 97 or 98.

He was the second of three children of Prince Don Fabrizio Pignatelli Aragona Cortes (1897-1953) and Maria Cristina Rignon (1899-1983). From 1954 to 1958 he was married to Luciana Malgheri (1935-2008). They had two children, Fabrizia (*1956) and Diego (*1958). In 1969 he married Mary Susan Morton (*1946) and had two more children, Ascanio (*1970) and Adriano (*1972).

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his 7 grandchildren.

Princess Ulrike-Christine of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg died this year at the age of 76 or 77.

She was born in 1944 as the fifth and youngest child of Prince Ludwig Ferdinand of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (1910-1943, before Ulrike-Christine was born) and Princess Friederike-Juliane of Salm-Horstmar (1912-2000). In 1971, she married Hanno von Wulffen (*1940). They had four children: Philipp (*1972), Shirin (*1974), Odo (*1976), and Johanna (*1979).

In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by 11 grandchildren, three brothers, and many nieces and nephews.

Fortune, Duchess of Grafton, GCVO, the senior lady courtier of the Queen's Household, Mistress of the Robes to Her Majesty for over 50 years, died 3 December, 2021, aged 101.

The former Ann Fortune Smith, was born 24 February, 1920, scion of the Smith landed gentry family, of Shottesbrooke Park and Ashfold, the only daughter of Capt Evan Cadogan Eric Smith, MC [1894-1950], and his wife the former Beatrice Helen Williams. She was a second cousin once removed of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, who was the granddaughter of Frances Smith, later Countess of Strathmore & Kinghorne.

She married 12 October, 1946, Hugh Denis Charles FitzRoy, styled Earl of Euston [born 3 Apr, 1919], son and heir of the 10th Duke of Grafton [1892-1970], and his 1st wife the former Lady Doreen Maria Josepha Sydney Buxton [1897-1923], daughter of the 1st and last Earl Buxton [1853-1934].

She was appointed a Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Elizabeth II in her Coronation year, 1953, and and advanced to the office of Mistress of the Robes in 1967, succeeding Mary, Duchess of Devonshire. As the senior female member of the Royal Household she accompanied Her Majesty on many royal tours, state visits and state occasions. Her 54 year tenure as Mistress of the Robes is perhaps a record.

Her husband succeeded his father as 11th Duke of Grafton, 11 November, 1970, and died 7 April, 2011.

The Duchess of Grafton had issue, James, styled Earl of Euston, and Lord Charles FitzRoy, and three daughters, Lady Henrietta, Lady Virginia and Lady Olivia. Her elder son, Lord Euston, died from cancer, 1 Oct, 2009, and at her husband's death in 2011, the dukedom together with the Earldom of Euston and Viscountcy of Ipswich devolved upon her grandson, Henry, the current 12th Duke of Grafton.

Fortune Grafton was appointed CVO in 1965, advanced to DCVO in 1970, and further advanced to GCVO in 1980. She served as a JP for West Sussex, 1972-90.

Princess Christine of Schaumburg-Lippe died on December 3 at the age of 85.

She was the third and youngest child of Prince Friedrich Christian of Schaumburg-Lippe (1906-1983) and Countess Alexandra of Castell-Rüdenhausen (1904-1961). She married Count Albrecht von Süsskind-Schwendi (*1937) in 1958. They had two children, Gabriele (*1959) and Konstantin (*1962).

Gabriele is married to Zoran Andijc. Konstantin is married to Daniela Haag and has two children, Adriaen and Fenja. Christine is also survived by her brother Albrecht (*1934) and his family, and predeceased by her sister Marie Elisabeth (1928-1945).
