Lord Patrick Beresford, polo playing socialite, scion of the Marquesses of Waterford, died on 18 March.

Lord Patrick Tristram de la Poer Beresford was born on 16 June 1934 as a younger of two sons of the John Charles la Poer Beresford, 7th Marquess of Waterford (1901-25 September 1934 in a shooting accident in the gun room at the family seat, Curraghmore, in County Waterford ) & his wife Juliet Mary, nee Lindsay (1904-1987) scion of the Earls of Crawford & Balcarres.

He married on 26 November 1964 [div 1971], Julia Jill Williamson [daughter of Thomas Cromwell Williamson of Beaumont Hall, Thorpe-le-Soken, co Essex, and his former wife Darel Sausmarez Carey); they divorced in 1971. Julia later married Sir Nicholas Nuttall, 3rd Baronet (1933-2007).

Lord Patrick, whose elder brother was the late John Hubert de la Poer Beresford, 8th Marquess of Waterford (1933-2015), leaves a son, Valentine Tristram (b. 1965), and a daughter, Samantha Julia (born 1969) and at least two grandchildren, as well as three nephews: Henry Nicholas (b.1958, 9thMarquess of Waterford), Charles Richard (b.1960), & James Patrick (b.1965) and a niece Alice Rose (b.1970) with their families.

He was an eccentric character he appeared in Time Team a few years back.May he rest in peace.

His Hungarian born widow Anna strongly disproved of her sons marriage to Emma McQuiston and wasn't allowed to attend the Wedding.

She’s never been allowed to meet her grandsons either.

Yes, I remember seeing a TV program about him. He was quite a character. I am sad to learn that he died of COVID19.

The new Marchioness of Bath(Emma) is absolutely gorgeous, and has the most beautiful little boys.

Eccentric is a polite word for the man. He had over 70 wifelets many in cottages on his property. No idea how many kids they may have born him. He only legally recognized one back in 2010 (said he had an 8 year old he didn't see enough of). He had paintings of the karma sutra painted on the walls of his family home. Anna was not the only one missing from their son's wedding. Alex boycotted it. He had handed over the control of the family estate to his son who removed his paintings and started kicking out the wifelets.

The new marchioness family was already linked to them. Emma has a few half siblings. Her older half brother Ian was married to her father in law's half sister Silvy. She was the daughter of the sixth marquess by his second wife.

I first knew about them do to Longleat their manor. We studied it in an art history class as it was designed by Capability Brown. It had the worlds largest maze but also the first drive thru safari park outside Africa. Longleat is actually involved in a breeding program to try and save the northern white rhino.

It’s sad that Anna’s racism has continued. It’s the twenty first century. She has two beautiful little grandsons she will never know.

John, the new viscount, will be six at the end of October. His brother Henry will be four at the end of December.

Exactly three months and a week after the death of Dagmar von Arbin, née Countess Bernadotte af Wisborg, her sister Martha Elsa Catharina, former Mrs. Tore Nilert followed her (16 days before her 94th birthday).

She was born as the youngest child together of Count Carl Bernadotte of Wisborg (1890-1977) & his first wife Marianne de Geer af Leufsta (1893-1978); her parents divorced in 1935 and two years later her father married Gerty Borjesson (1910-2004) by whom he had another son Claes (b.1942).
She married in Osmo in 1948 Tore Henrik Nilert (1915-1997) but they divorced in 1968.
She left four children: Jan (b.1950), Charlotta (b.1952), Anne-Marie (b.1954) & Fredrik (b.1959), five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as her younger half-brother and many nephews and nieces with their families.

Sources: Sweden
Descendants of Duke Wilhelm of Nassau
She is last of her parents' children together to pass away.
