Apart from his wife he leaves five children: Monique (b.1972), Thomas (b.1974), Isabelle (b.1979), Sophie (b.1980) & Diane (b.1983) and thirteen grandchildren.
The greatest tragedy which he and his wife experienced was definitely the untimely death of their second daughter Marie-Armandine (twin sister of Thomas) in 2014, who bereft also her husband and four children [her widower is now married again].
His funeral took place today.

Lady Elizabeth Georgiana Alice Cavendish died on 15 September.
She was a Lady-in-Waiting to Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, and was the mistress, companion and carer of the poet Sir John Betjeman.
She was born on 24 April 1926 in London, just three days younger than the Queen, and was a childhood friend of the then Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose. She was the second, but eldest surviving daughter (her sister Mary died on 17 November 1922, living just three weeks) of Edward William Spencer Cavendish, the 10th Duke of Devonshire(1895-1950) & his wife, Lady Mary Gascoyne-Cecil (1895-1988), who served the Queen as Mistress of the Robes (senior Lady-in-Waiting) from the Coronation in 1953 until 1966.
Her brother, Andrew Cavendish, was 11th Duke of Devonshire, KG, who died in 2004. Her oldest brother, William, Marquess of Hartington, married Kathleen Kennedy, sister of the future US President, and was killed in the Second World War. A younger sister, Lady Anne Tree, died in 2010.
Lady Elizabeth was a long serving Lady-in-Waiting to Princess Margaret, and it was at Lady Elizabeth's Chelsea home in 1958 that the princess met the young photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones, who two years later became her husband.
She never married nor had children.

A horrible tragedy has happened to the Goëss family.
Count Ulrich von Goëss (b. 1926), his wife Margherita (nee Countess von Cassis Faraone) (b. 1931), and his younger son Ernst (b. 1966), were murdered in their home by Count Anton von Goëss (*1964), elder son of Count Ulrich and his first wife.
Count Anton has fortunately been arrested. The motive was reportedly a dispute about money.
The deceased are survived by Count Ulrich's daughter Marie Jeanne, and by the children and grandchildren of Margherita's previous marriage.
