Unfortunately, this is an expected result of a Ruling system that passes the throne only through brothers or cousins.
The late Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, who took power 14 years ago, was the only one among the rulers of Kuwait who never assumed the position of crown prince. He assumed power immediately after the death of his brother, the late Emir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad (d. in 2006) replacing Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah who was the crown prince then and legally inherited the throne upon the death of his cousin the late Emir (Sheikh Jaber) , but he was unable to take an oath to assume his powers due to illness, and died shortly afterwards.
