Kuwait Amir appoints new FM
KUWAIT, Oct 23 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed a decree Saturday to name Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister.
Sheikh Sabah received Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah at Dar Salwa earlier today with attendance of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received at Sief Palace on Sunday Qatari Ambassador to the country Abdulaziz Al-Fehaid, who handed HH a letter from theAmir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
The letter included an invitation to attend the Connect Arab Summit, due to kick off in Doha next March 5-7.

[23 October 2011] : Kuwait leadership expresses condolences for Turkish quake victims
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent a cable to Turkish President Abdullah Gul expressing deepest condolences for the victims of the devastating earthquake that hit east Turkey on Sunday killing and wounding hundreds of people.
Sheikh Sabah wished speedy recovery for the injured and hoped Turkey would overcome the impacts of the earthquake.
His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah sent similar cables.

Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Informatics Prize launched
KUWAIT: The 11th Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Prize opened its doors to competition entries and also volunteers yesterday. Committee member Saleh Al-Asousi told reporters that informatics as a field has received great interest and attention by both HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and by prize sponsor and National Guard Chief Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah. He added that the prize and the sector are witnessing continual development due to this support.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received at Bayan Palace on Monday Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Minister State of Housing Affairs Mohammad Al-Nomas.
-Nomas introduced to HH the Amir Salah Mudhaf Al-Mudhaf on the occasion of the latter's appointment as the Savings and Credit Bank Chairmanr.
During the meeting, Al-Nomas also introduced to HH the Amir a number of first prize winners of Holy Quran competitions held in several Arab and Islamic countries.
HH the Amir congratulated the winners and wished them well and advancement in their achievements.

HH the Amir addressed the attending MPs at the seaside Abdullah Al-Salem Hall after arriving to a red carpet welcome at the entrance of the building.

[25 October 2011] : HH Amir calls for dissension renunciation, voices concern at youths'' welfare
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurated on Tuesday the fourth session of the 13th legislative term of the National Assembly (Parliament), calling on the legislators and executives to renounce dissension and urged for coordination to enhance level of citizens' living conditions and combat corruption.
HH the Amir, in his address to the parliament, expressed regret at bids to use tribal and sectarian affiliations to serve personal interests at the expense of basic national interests, dramatic deterioration of the "political rhetoric," bids to smear some citizens' reputation, sensational language promoted by some of the media and press and expressed concern at the welfare of the youth, who must not be neglected to become prey for devious trends.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Tuesday sent a cable of congratulations to MP Adnan Sayed Abdul Samad for his election un-opposed as Secretary General of the National Assembly.
HH the Amir sent a similar cable to MP Dr. Ali Saleh Al-Omair for his election as the assembly supervisor.

Amir urges end to feuds as Assembly reconvenes
KUWAIT: HH the Amir yesterday called on MPs and the government to end their "continuous" disputes that have stalled development, urging them to stop behaving like "archenemies" instead of brothers and sisters. Opening the new national assembly term, the Amir criticized the opposition for holding demonstrations and rallies rather than expressing their views in the national assembly, and for making unsubstantiated accusations of bribery, corruption and treason against others.
