Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Yugoslavia...they were referred to as "of Serbia and Montenegro" in the Indianapolis Star (our paper), they were in Indianapolis (where I'm from and still live) last month, attending a benefit. Unlike Prince Andrew, Duke of York, the Crown Prince and Princess were more accessible to other guests AND they even made comments (nice ones) about Indianapolis on the news. Prince Andrew, his ex Sarah, and Prince Michael of Kent have all visited here. Prince Andrew and Sarah were here before for the U.S. Grand Prix. :flower:

Is it really appropriate for a Crown Prince to be enumerated, i.e. CP Alexander "II"? Shouldn't this be reserved for monarchs?

Hello Duke,
Hope you wouldn't mind me crashing in with a reply. I don't have all the answers, but let me try...:
They are royal family although they are not ruling the country any more. Besides, the country they've been monarchs of doesn't exists any more. That certainly caused quite a few legal issues to be raised in respect to their inheritance in former Yugoslavian Republics (i.e. Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia).
Crown Prince Alexandar and family, his (now late) uncle (paternal) Prince Tomislav Karadjordjevic with family and Princess Jelisaveta Karadjordjevic (Elisabeth George - as she is known in abroad) are residents of Belgrade, the capitol of former Yugoslavia and Serbia. The legal procedure of returning all their possessions taken away from them by communist regime has been finished. This should answer your question about current government's position regarding Royal Family. After democratic changes (2000) incomparably more tolerant.
There is, however the conflict inside the family (on relation Crown Prince Alexandar - Elisabeth and Alexandar - children of late Regent Pavle (Paul)). Not only in regard to the throne but also the entire heredity.
As to your question whether they've been accepted well by the people - I can not be exclusive in any claims since it entirely depends on personal political convictions of each citizen. There are monarchist or pro-monarchist political parties on Serbian political scene. They don't seem to have considerably large number of voters.
