He wouldn't want to call it war as that might sound like he is condemning Russia. His statement stays far away from that only suggesting they talk instead of using guns to ''resolve a conflict'. I don't think Ukraine agress there was a 'conflict' to begin with other than a foreign country occupying parts of their land.

Serbia has politically and historically very close ties with Russia.
Russia has literally on several occasions defended Serbia on the battlefield.

So it's safe to say that Serbians have very mixed feelings right now.
So many Serbs will agree with the Russian, initial, stance which was to protect ethnic minorities in other countries. There are very considerable Serbian minorities in Bosnia and Croatia, who are supported by Serbia. Minorities who may wish to join Serbia.
On the other hand there is a of of sympathy for Slav brothers and sisters defending themselves from outside occupation. Something that is at the very core of the Serbian mindset.

So CP Alexander is walking a tightrope here!

Thank you for sharing. :flowers: One may or may not agree with Alexander's views on restoration and monarchy, but he is undoubtedly articulate and passionate.

It's nice that he dedicates much of his interviews to honoring the work of his ancestors and his wife. It reflects well on Katarina that she worked to supply humanitarian aid to Serbians in the 1990s, before the family had been permitted to return.

I also like that he acknowledges republicans as equal citizens in a monarchy:

And to conclude, people often ask “How a monarch can be representative of all citizens when there are also republicans in the country”. I will just give you one example, from our history, an anecdote about my great-grandfather King Peter I, which gives an answer to this question. People say that, when he became the King, opponents of the monarchy in the Kingdom of Serbia organized demonstrations and gathered in front of the Palace, shouting against the King. Although the adjutant advised my great-grandfather not to come out to the balcony, he did not listen, he came in front of the protesters and told them:” Yes my children, shout! You should shout out loud, I came to my position so you would have the right to shout whatever you wish!”

It is interesting that he addresses controversies concerning the legacies of his ancestors. I wonder if he considers that a stumbling block to a more official role for his family.

No show up of Prince Philip , the heir ?

Good point! That is a troubling aspect, in my opinion. What happens in the future? These family problems should be settled now, especially seeing how hard Crown Prince Alexander has worked to restore the presence of the monarchy is Serbia. And how willing Prince Philip seems to be to find his place in the family dynamic.

Does anyone know who are the others?

Apart from Alexander and Katherine, I recognize her sister Betty Roumeliotis, her son David Andrews and her daughter in law Angeliki.
