“I am very happy that my husband, Crown Prince Alexander II and I came to your school for the first time. I am sorry that we were not able to visit you before, but I hope that this is a beginning of our friendship and a successful cooperation. Today, we brought you desks that you will use while playing and growing. With the help of many of benefactors, my husband and I have carried out many humanitarian actions, and this is the result of one of them. These desks arrived from our friends in Greece, and I thank them for their help. I sincerely hope that you will notify us about the rest of your needs, and we will try to help as much as we can, because children are the most valuable thing we have. Know that we are very proud of you and we will do everything we can in order that you spend your childhood and life in the way you deserve” – said HRH Princess Katherine.

“I am very happy that the Foundation of my wife has helped your school. This present may be a small one, but know that our love for you is a large one” – said HRH Crown Prince Alexander II in his address to the children and thanked them for the warm welcome.

Afterwards, the children of “Dusan Dugalic” school performed a cultural-artistic program, and after that Their Royal Highnesses accompanied by Mrs. Dragica Nedeljkovic and Mr. Dragan Velickovic, Vice-President of the Assembly of the Municipality Vracar visited the school. During the tour, Crown Prince Alexander and Princess Katherine spent the most time in the classroom where the pupils learn to work on computers and the classroom for creating things made of wax where the children, who had their class at the time, showed them their talents.

...Hello lamass, welcome to TRF...:) Information regarding present activities of young Princes are rare and hardly provide good insight, however, I believe they are all doing rather well, making first steps as young professionals in London. Few remarks on their whereabouts and present interests/involvements could be found in prior posts.

THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES VISITED VRBAS, CRVENKA AND VETERNIK

Donation of an ambulance vehicle to the Health Center in Vrbas

Belgrade, 14 March 2005 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Princess Katherine visited Vrbas, Crvenka and Veternik today, and the Foundation of HRH Princess Katherine delivered an ambulance vehicle “Yugo Florida” to the Health Center in Vrbas, and a donation of food, clothes, shoes, desks and hygienic material to the Home for children hindered in development.

At the very beginning of the visit to the Backa region, Their Royal Highnesses visited the Municipality of Vrbas, where Mr. Zeljko Lainovic with his closest associates wished them a warm welcome. He introduced the dear guests with the results of the development of this town so far, as well as with future plans. Addressing the present, HRH Crown Prince Alexander II pointed out:

“The future of everyone and of your town as well, is with young people. We should help them to gain a quality education, but also, they should be motivated to stay here and help their own people in the best possible way. We must all be united in realizing this. Only in this way can we succeed and be sure that we have a brighter future ahead of us. Our country deserves to be a part of the big European family, because that place rightly belongs to it in the course of its history” – and added, that they can always count on help from the Royal Family.

Afterwards, TRH went to visit the Health Center in Vrbas, where the valuable donation was delivered - an ambulance vehicle “Yugo Florida” that was purchased with a great effort from the Foundation of HRH Princess Katherine. The keys of this vehicle were ceremonially handed over to the director of the Health Center by HRH Crown Prince Alexander II.

Mr. Dusan Komnenovic, director, thanked TRH on behalf of the employees for this valuable present, which will be of great help for the work of the Health Center, and pointed out that Their Royal Highnesses put much effort in helping, not only the Health Center in Vrbas, but also a great number of medical institutions throughout our country.

The present were also addressed by HRH Princess Katherine.

“The ambulance vehicle, which we are handing over to you today, will help you and your everyday fight for human life. Human life is the most valuable thing we have and every effort to save it must be made. That is why the joy of giving is great, when we know that we helped you and your patients. Our heart is always with our people, and we will always be there to alleviate the conditions in which you work” – Princess Katherine pointed out.

Later on, Their Royal Highnesses visited the sugar factory “Crvenka”, and candy factory “Jafa” in Crvenka, where they spent time chatting with the hosts and introduced themselves with the work and results of these two high-tech equipped factories.

At the end of the visit to the Backa region, Their Royal Highnesses visited the Home for children hindered in development, in Veternik, where they delivered a valuable donation of desks, hygienic material, food, clothes and shoes. Mr. Bekic, director, with his closest associates and a great number of children, who live in this Home, wished a warm welcome to the dear guests.

Mr. Bekic, director, thanked the Royal Couple for the valuable donation that resulted from the great humanitarian action of the Foundation of HRH Princess Katherine, in which many good-hearted people from Greece took part, wanting in this way to help the little children in Homes throughout Serbia. Director Bekic declared HRH Princess Katherine the patron of the Home for children hindered in development in Veternik.

Noticeably exited Princess addressed the present and expressed her hope that this donation will help the little children in their everyday work and added:

“Your laughter is the biggest reward for us. There is much love for you in our hearts, and I know you feel that. Thank you for your wish to have me as your patron. It is a great honour for me, but also an obligation to help you in the future, too. Beside the great number of obligations I will try to visit you more often and to spend more time chatting and playing with you.”

The little children performed a short cultural-artistic program in honour of the visit of Their Royal Highnesses and as a sign of their gratitude for the valuable donation of the Foundation of HRH Princess Katherine.

This was the end of today’s visit of HRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Princess Katherine to Vrbas, Crvenka and Veternik.

Prince Alexander Karadjordjevic

PRINCE CHARLES HAS AN INVITATION TO COME TO SERBIA

The Crown Prince Alexander Karadjordjevic talks about the visits to Rome and London, where he attended the funeral of PopeJohn II and the wedding of Prince Charles

Your Royal Highness, tell us what are the impressions from Windsor?

It was a wonderful day filled with happiness and joy. My wife and I are thrilled for Prince Charles and Princess Camilla. My wife and I had flown Thursday 7 April with Prince Charles to Rome for the funeral of the Pope on Friday and so being at such a wonderful wedding Saturday after witnessing world leaders and the people being so sad in Rome was very nice. The whole of the British Royal Family and guests thoroughly enjoyed the wedding and the newly weds were radiant. We have always like Princess Camilla very much and were thrilled that the wedding was such a great success.

What was the ceremony after the wedding like?

The reception in Windsor Castle following the wedding was extremely nice and very relaxed. The Queen gave a speech and so did the bride’s father – they were wonderful speeches filled with humor and praise for the couple. Prince Charles’s speech was excellent and so very well received by all guests. The wedding cake was superb and from Wales. Windsor Castle looks magnificent after the terrible fire of a few years ago and the wedding was splendid in the restored reception rooms.

What did you talk about with Prince Charles, will he come to Serbia and when?

On the Prince’s airplane of the Queen’s flight to Rome and back, my wife and I had the opportunity to answer questions our country. We also thanked Prince Charles for his humanitarian aid that we delivered last year. In addition, we had the opportunity to speak on the flight with Michael Howard (the leader of the conservatives) and Charles Kennedy (leader of the Liberal Democrats). At the reception in Windsor Castle I spoke with Tony Blair (Prime Minister) about the tough times our people are facing. There is an election campaign going on in the United Kingdom. Prince Charles has a standing invitation to come to Serbia and this is in the hands of the British Foreign Office. I hope that it will not be long before the Prince and Princess come to our beautiful country so that they can see first hand how wonderful and hospitable our people are.

What did you and talk about with Queen Elizabeth?

The queen was very happy to see my wife and I at the wedding and we spoke about the marvelous day.

What is the position of the Serbian Dynasty Karadordjevic among the European Monarchies?

Our position is very good and very friendly. At the funeral of the Pope, we spoke briefly with The King and Queen of Spain and the King and Queen of the Belgiums. We also had the opportunity to speak with President and Mrs. Chirac. We are proud to have good relations with all royal families and proud to have so many good friends.

How much are our Monarchist relations utilized for enhancement of political and economical status of Serbia in the world?

My wife and I always talk proudly about our beloved country and our people. However, owing to the constitutional restraints in the European monarchies it is the government that rules and the monarch reigns, but that does not mean that we do not miss the opportunity to talk.

Is it possible to have the photos from the wedding?

I am sorry that I do not have any personally, but I understand that the television took footage.

What is the plan of HRH Crown Prince, where does he plan to travel in the next couple of weeks?

We will be going this week to the funeral of Prince Rainier of Monaco and then back home next week. I have known Prince Rainier sine (sic) I was a child and my wife and I have been his guests in his palace in Monaco. We are very sad that he passed away; he was very warm and wonderful person.

EVROPA, March 2005

Interview with HRH Crown Prince Alexander II for weekly magazine “Evropa”

THE PROPERTY WILL BE RETURNED TO US

Evropa: Which property in Serbia is to be claimed by The Royal Home?

KARADJORDJEVIC: The question of the return of the property of The Royal Home was raised long time ago, and resolved on the occasion when the National Parliament abolished the shameful Decree from 1947. When and how this property will be returned depends on the enactment of a special law, in the manner that was regulated by the above-mentioned decision of the National Parliament.

Evropa: Which members of The Royal Home will claim the property and what property exactly is to be claimed?

KARADJORDJEVIC: It is not possible to answer this now, because the appropriate decision will be made by each of the inheritors themselves. What we need to bear in mind, by all means, is that a part of this property has a special cultural and historic value, beside its material and sentimental value. I believe that a solution is possible, and that it could be fair and beneficial for everyone.

Evropa: In what form do the members of The Royal Home expect the property to be returned to them?

KARADJORDJEVIC: What is possible should be returned directly, and what is impossible to return directly should be the subject of compensation (it should not be forgotten that a considerable part of the property was destroyed).

Evropa: Would you agree to have the property partly returned, and partly to have a monetary compensation? And under which conditions would you agree with that?

KARADJORDJEVIC: That is, also, something that the inheritors themselves will decide on. Personally, I think that it is possible, and an agreement on conditions is certainly needed and possible.

Evropa: Do you still consider, as You did seven years ago, that without the return of the confiscated property Serbia will not realize the full democracy and acquire the condition for joining the European Union?

KARADJORDJEVIC: This is not only what I consider, but also everyone who knows how the immunity of private property is treated in Europe and in the whole world.

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

PAVAROTI RETURNS

In 1961 I heard there was an audition for a singer who would travel to Belgrade. I applied and I passed. That was my first stage appearance out of Italy. this present stage appearance is one of my last concerts. Between those two trips to Belgrade is my entire career – so said Luciano Pavarotti, perhaps the world’s most famous contemporary opera singer, during his May visit o Belgrade

According to Serbia’s Crown Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic, Pavarotti’s concert was a step on the road to making Belgrade a cultural centre of Europe, while local opera star Oliver Njego said that the sound of that noble vocal instrument that was Pavrotti’s voice would resound in his years for a long time.

Interesting to see that Serge, who is the 'son' of the rival claimant is invited and attending. I doubt his 'father', step-mother, or aunt Elisabeth will be there. It is also interesting to see that he has been accorded the HRH, when that branch of the family are Highnesses at best.

Wonder if Serge and his sister are on speaking terms with their father. Their paternity has long been speculated upon, and it is an open secret that their father is Michelle de Bourbon-Parme, their mother's current husband & long time lover prior to that. Last I checked Alexandre's (of the Arsen branch) website, they were in the family album section of his webiste, while all of his other children were.
