The opinion polls are showing a very strong basis for the monarchy in Romania. The institution is reputable and seen as a positive, the Royal Family is seen as a good institution and with the right campaign, the monarchy can be returned to Romania. Until then, it's a very strong foundation for the current process of establishing a framework for the Royal House, by law.
 
No polls show a bigger support than 30% for Monarchy. One thing is to respect the King and another to want the restoration of Monarchy.

That is not what the polls show.
They show that two thirds of Romanians were in favour of the idea of restoring the monarchy after the fall of communism. That's more than enough to mount a campaign to restore the monarchy, when that time comes.
In the meantime, the current events aspect here, is that the polls continue to show the reverence the Royal Family is seen with inside Romania, and the great basis there is for the continued work the Royal House will undertake in the times to come.

They were linked a few posts up.
Nearly two thirds of Romanians think it would had been better for the country if the monarchy was restored at the fall of communism 25 years ago.
That is an enormous basis of sympathy for the institution of monarchy to build on, when one mounts a campaign to restore it.
 
No polls suggest there is a strong support for the restoration of Monarchy NOW.
 
The support was personally for the King.

I´m sorry, but looking at your posts I must say you sound like a republican vehemently opposed against the monarchy...:whistling:
What´s the point of speaking against the enthusiasm of many romanians they obviously feel for a possible restauration? Makes no sense, except you want things to stay they are now!
 
You can hardly meet a more convinced monarchist than myself but dreaming does not help. The polls are very clear in Romania and at this moment they do not favour Monarchy even if the King would be very respected.

It is part of a campaign being waged non-stop, day in and out, without any foundation, logic or reasonable argumentation, by one individual claiming to be a supporter of the monarchy, while disagreeing with any progress made in Romania with regards to the very institution itself.

There is no way to explain it, and unfortunately, the Romanian threads are flooded by it.

Nobody said the polls favoured the restoration of the monarchy, those are your words to keep a non-existent debate going. I said the view of two thirds of Romanians (read the polls yourself with an open mind) are of the view that the monarchy should had been restored at the fall of communism.

That is a great basis for the monarchical cause to take advantage of.
There's great sympathy in Romania for the Royal House and the history it represents. That's what you build on, if you want a monarchy returned.

Dreaming is precisely the exercise in which are engaged some few but noisy persons who would like to have the Fürst of Hohenzollern et famille imported to Bucharest for the purpose of advancing a cause (i.e. the restoration of the monarchy) about which Their Serene Highnesses have never cared.

In the years since the fall of Communism, only five people have ever been unarguably active in the mission to restore the Royal House of Romania to visibility and to relevance in a country that was reeling from decades of mismanagement and corruption and moral decay.

These persons are HM the King, HM the late Queen, HRH the Crown Princess, HRH Prince Radu and HRH Prince Nicholas.

The majority of the Romanian people are aware of this fact [i.e. see on the previous page the extensive polling done by IRES in March], and this is the reason why the Royal House is appreciated and respected today.

There is certainly sympathy towards Monarchy among a part of the Romanians but mostly because of the King who remains quite popular.
In 1990 the sympathy for the King was not so big as today and a restoration of Monarchy would have been very difficult at that moment.
In the same time dreaming that the majority of Romanians are in favour of Monarchy is pointless. There is no such a thing.
In few years the monarchists could convince more people and arrive at a referendum.
 
Actually, the public sympathy for the King was quite prominent right after the fall. We have seen photos and videos of the massive crowds that flooded the square in front of the InterContinental Hotel when King Michael, Queen Anne, Princess Helen, Prince Nicholas and others were on the balcony. Such an enthusiastic outpouring of affection by the people was probably overwhelming but not surprising given the symbol of hope and goodness that the King had come to be for his countrymen.

At the time, it was the political structure that was not receptive to His Majesty.

Now, thank heaven, that has changed. Soon we will witness King Michael and the Royal Family being given by the parliamentary representatives of the Romanian people the place the Royal House deserves at the forefront of national life.

Almost two thirds of respondents believe that Romania would have evolved for the better if after the revolution of 1989 the country would have opted to restore the monarchy. The percentages of those who support this are higher according to respondents' age. The proportion of those who argue that it would have been better for Romania to reinstate the monarchy after 1989 are higher among men and people in urban areas.

This data is part of the study "Royal House of Romania at 150 Years - Perceptions and Representations" made ​​by the Romanian Institute for Evaluation and Strategy - IRES Magazine between 23 to 24 March 2016. SUMMARY based on a total sample of 1,073 subjects aged over 18 years, representing the adult population of Romania, margin of error of ± 3%. What happened in 1992 was something really amazing but that did not mean there was a majority support for the Monarchy in 1992. Now there is certainly more.
The recognition needed by the King is to be restored on the Throne.

Quite right, and with that backdrop in mind, the process onwards for the Royal Family seems quite clear. Work hard, be seen, do good and establish an acceptable succession.
When that is done, the road seems paved to me - but it requires focus, determination and support from the right places and at the right times.
 
The King has tried very much after 1997 to visit the country and to speak about Monarchy. His visits made a huge difference: people met their Sovereign who was driving his own car and was not surrounded by many bodyguards but protected by the love if his people.

Interestingly, the number of people who have heard about the Royal House has also gone up quite significantly from the last polls I can remember. Some 93% now answered that they were aware of it, with over 60% having a favourable or very favourable view of the Royal Family. Those are very good numbers to work with for the Royal Family, sure to receive much greater visibility under the new law proposed.

Romania celebrates its 98th National Day with special events in Bucharest and other cities

Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Princess, Prince Radu and Princess Maria, departed Sinaia onboard the Royal Train earlier today, with Their Majesties the Czar and Czaritsa of the Bulgarians, and H.I & R.H Prince Lorenz of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este as invited guests on this annual trip taken on the National Day of Romania.

Princess Maria is the youngest daughter of the King, 53 years now, divorced and without issue. She is the very last in the michaelist line of succession and bypassing her sisters and her nieces will make no sense.

Princess Maria has increased her public role in Romania, assisting her eldest sister. That is all.

"Crown Princess Margareta and Prince Radu will take part in the holy service of the Resurrection, Saturday, April 15, 2017, at midnight, at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Cluj. Their Royal Highnesses will be guests of His Beatitude Metropolitan Andrei.

Crown Princess Margareta and Prince Radu will participate Sunday, April 16th, 2017, a part of the job on the first day of Easter, the Greek-Catholic Cathedral in Cluj-Napoca, where they will meet with His Grace Bishop Florentin and parishioners present at the grand celebration.

Princess Maria will celebrate the Resurrection at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of Ramnicu Valcea and will be the guest of His Beatitude Archbishop Varsanufie.

His Majesty the King will remain private residence in Switzerland during the Easter holidays. King Mihai I will receive a visit from Father Adrian Diaconu, Switzerland dean for the Romanian Orthodox Church."
