The Romanian royalists are I suppose very anxious to see what the ANRM Congress will decide next weekend. Which will be the strategy of the biggest Romanian royalist Association for the near future?

The merits of ANRM for promoting the Monarchy were recognized once again during the Ceremony of new medals yesterday.

During the ANRM Congress a young member of the Romanian Parliament, Daniel Gheorghe, said there was a question that needs to get an answer in the near future: is the Royal House really prepared for the restoration of Monarchy?

After all what happened in the summer, I think the royal family is not prepared for a restoration.
Will there be a referendum?

This is a very good question. I do not know of course if you could answer it even the royal family itself.
Thanks Cory and wait and other news from the Congress.

Does the King's Family really want the restoration of Monarchy?
ANRM published a Letter to President Iohannis asking the Head of State to change the Parliament into a Costitutional Assembly to restore the Monarchy.

The royalists are celebrating the King's birthday with a huge flag in the Square dedicated to the Sovereign in Bucharest .

I am sure the Royal Family will accept a restoration, but one must remember, except for the King and Queen, all the members of the RF are born in exile, and were most likely raised to not except anything, but accept what fate would have in store for them. H.R.H the Crown Princess have made it clear in several interviews that she will assume whatever role the Romanian people wishes her to undertake, and that her family is in Romania to serve.

The eldest Princess should have never let her husband to announce his intention to become president of the republic.

And here comes the question; Who will be "tomorrow" the head of the royal family?
Margareta or Radu?

It was a silly misstep, but in all fairness, this is history and I'm not sure it's something most people think about. But since the Crown Princess and Prince Radu have no children, it is more important to settle on an order of succession, and none of the other distractions will matter.
In the years that have passed since that mishap, I find that the Prince has worked quite hard to help his wife and father-in-law to improve the royal presence in Romania.

The head of the family, following the demise of the King, is H.R.H Crown Princess Romania. Prince Radu will continue to be the partner of his wife, a Prince Consort, such as Danish Prince Henrik and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Sorry but I did not see anything new in this Congress. They agreed the obvious to support the restoration of the monarchy in the country (it did before?) and that they will take part in the various anniversaries that will be organized (will not also they did?). Although of course the translation of google I used in the article was correct. (They had to make some reference to the events with Nikolae?)

They sent a Letter to the president of the republic asking for a change of the Parliament into an Assembly to restore the Monarchy.

That is nice, but of course the President receives thousands of letters and his office will respond to these. Exactly like that letter in which an US citizen requested Queen ELizabeth II "to take back the USA" because of the poor level of presidential candidates ( letter).

No, Cory: the "Head" of the King's Family will be Princess Margareta and the "Head" of the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen family will be Prince Karl of Hohenzollern. Who becomes the Sovereign in a new Constitutional Monarchy in Romania is entirely the decision of the Romanian people and the rules they determine to establish the line of succession will be found in the new constitution that they will have to adopt.
The 1923 Constitution (which didn't even include universal suffrage!) is dead: the only thing that's missing is the death certificate.

Princess Margareta will be the Head of her Family but won't ever be Successor to the Throne.
Prince Karl will be de iure Head of the Royal House of Hohenzollern in Romania but will reign only if the Romanians will restore Monarchy.

Prince Karl will be de jure Head of the Royal House of Hohenzollern in Romania according to the 1923 constitution but that constitution will one day be legally abrogated - monarchy or no monarchy - and, as far as Romania is concerned, he will be just another de jure King to add to the European stockpile. France has a nice little collection of 3 - the Duke of Anjou, the Count of Paris and Charles Bonaparte. In real terms, that's all he is already.
Karl will reign in Romania if (a) a monarchy is re-established and (b) if the new constitution which re-establishes a monarchy makes him King.
