Bucharest, 5th of April 2014:
The biggest Marches were in Bucharest and Cluj but even in Timisoara and Craiova there were quite successful:

It appears that quite a large crowd turned up for the marches, I think it's nice that a former royal family in a republic have a lot of support. Do we know what the results of the marches are yet? I hope the monarchists get what they wish for.

Not the Royal Family decides the return of Monarchy but the people. The royalists from ANRM (leaded by Mrs Marilena Rotaru and Mr Catalin Serban) presented a project of Constitution to the Royal Family.

Interesting. I always thought that it was the Government's decision.

That's promising news. Hopefully we'll know what the results of the marches were soon. If the monarchy is restored, I wonder who will assume the throne - King Michael or Prince Nicolae? I've read upthread that Nicolae is not as well known as King Michael in Romania, which I too am surprised about. You would've thought that a newly created Prince would have more recognition.

It would be interesting to know what the Romanian Royals think of all this. I know that if I were King Michael, I would want to assume the throne once more. Or maybe he doesn't want to reign again.

There is no doubt the Royal Family is prepared to reign again.
The newspaper"Gandul" invited the Romanians at a poll in favour of Monarchy or Republic:
SONDAJ Gândul. Monarhie constituţională sau republică? - Gandul
There is a question that everybody really avoid to put: do Princess Margareta and her husband really support the restoration of Monarchy or they prefer the role they have now in the republican society?
It is hard to know the real feelings of Princess Margareta or of her husband regarding the Restoration of Monarchy.
On the 26th of April the royalists from the southern part of the country will participate at Galati (Hall "Nicolae Balceascu " of the Business Center "Dunarea") at a Conference with the title "The Constitutional Monarchy. A legitimate project for Romania"". The event is organized by ANRM and will be followed by a meeting of the leadership of the royalists'Association.
Events organized by the royalists of ANRM for the 10th of May:
Evenimentele organizate de Alianța Națională pentru Restaurarea Monarhiei pentru celebrarea zilei de 10 Mai | Casa Regală a României

Hmmm... Never thought about that. With HM in favor of a restoration (how wonderful it would be for the king to get the send off he deserves when the time comes), I would like to think the Crown couple would also be in favor of one. It's clear that Prince Nicolae is as he is quoted as saying, that he would not turn down the offer of being king if the people wished it.
At the Crown Princesses age, it might possibly be a thought in the back of her head to simply keep her current role rather than wording about becoming Queen in the event of a restoration.
But as I said, if the King is in favor and would like to see it (restoration), then I find it hard to think that the Crown Princess would feel differently.
Then again, those of is here at the forums, can't speak for her or read her mind.

The fact that the prime minister was present to the official dinner at Elisabeta Palace last evening is an important sign the Romanian political class starts to respect in a proper way the Royal Family.
The prime minster said last evening he would always respect the Royal House as one of the most important institutions of modern Romania:
Ponta: Voi respecta Casa Regală, una dintre instituțiile fundamentale ale statului român modern – AGERPRES

The leader of the main opposition party says Monarchy could be restored in the future if the people wants it because the republic does not really have legitimacy:
Antonescu: Republica noastră nu are destulă legitimitate. Monarhia ar putea fi un proiect | ActiveNews
The leader of the Romanian Orthodox Church is not too close to the Royal Family and the members of the royal Family should be allowed anyhow to profess the religion they want.
HM the King and the 5 Princesses are Orthodox but HM the Queen is obviously Catholic. To impose a certain religion to somebody is against the essential human rights.
in the Netherlands the Queen is Catholic and the King Protestant. In the UK the laws forbiding a member of the Royal Family to marry a Catholic will be changed.
Religion is very important at least in Romania.
For the moment there is not important political party in favour of the restoration.

I feel a restoration should place King Michael on the throne with Princess Margareta assuming the same role that the Prince of Wales does in relation to Queen Elizabeth, taking on many of the duties of the King. With King Michael on the throne I feel it would a symbolic gesture to heal some of the wounds of the communist era and provide a sense of continuity.
I would like to see a religious crowning by the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church with participation of the other large Christian denominations. I feel this would provide a further sense of legitimacy and assist the Romanian people in further getting away from the cultural damage of the communist era.

It doesn't matter if they are close, it is a matter of legitimacy and a matter of solemnity. Most of the world's monarchs are required to practice the faith of the majority of the nations people.
