From the interview of Marilena Rotaru, President of Mișcarea pentru Regat și Coroană (The Movement for the Kingdom and the Crown), in December 2018:

Marilena Rotaru is a television journalist, publicist and novelist, the best-known producer of cultural programs at TVR. But, the most eloquent professional result of his, which individualized it most in the guild of Romanian journalists and imposed it above all on the civil society scene, remains the series of interviews with King Mihai, between 1991-1996, (subject under embargo in those years), 52 shows and public events, as well as 58 interviews and documentaries dedicated to the Monarchy, King Mihai and the Royal Family.

In recent years, you support, unconditionally, Prince Nicolae, the grandson of King Mihai, who is increasingly loved by the Romanians. Who is Nicolae of Romania for Romania?
Marilena Rotaru: ... Prince Nicolae put down roots here, in the years when he traveled throughout Romania and, especially, recently, since he married Alina Maria. He knows and appreciates the Romanian traditions and is involved in a series of projects that aim to make Romania and its heritage values visible in the world. I value him and support him for the qualities of an honest young man, open to beneficial actions, for his deep love towards his grandfather, for his generosity, with which he spends his energies to help and build something sustainable here, in his ancestral home, with heavy personal sacrifices: King Carol I, Queen Elizabeta, King Ferdinand, Queen Maria.
And another reason with testamentary value. In the autumn of 2006, when King Mihai turned 85, he told me: "I would like to know that you will be with Nicolae, especially when everyone will leave him!" Only after nine years I understood the meaning of these words.

I feel like that's a little presumptuous considering it ended up being the King himself who officially removed Nicolae from the succession. I know it's controversial and there are questions but it wasn't what he was talking about in 2006. Though obviously she can interpret it now in different ways.

This Ms Rotaru is the arch-poisonous black adder which has caused Nicholas' downfall. The sooner and more clear Nicholas breaks with that rasputina the better. Note that Ms Rotaru opposed all and everything about the current arrangement, the succesful "cohabitation" of the royal family within the republican structure.

Let us say: Princess Margareta and her sisters are realists (this is the best the former royal family can get) while Ms Rotariu and her "movement" are fundamentalists: they want a full restoration of the monarchy, no more, no less. And they see Nicholas as their "candidate".

This is quite ironic as these "fundamentalists" reject the arrangements with the State of Romania (set up under King Michael), reject King Michael's proposed changes in the succession (they oppose Princess Margareta and her sisters) but nevertheless support Nicholas, a nephew of the lady they oppose.

One needs the same olympic gymnastic skills and three saltos mortale, executed by the legendaric Romanian gymnaste Nadia Comaneci to follow and understand Ms Rotaru's logica.

As long as Nicholas does not distance himself from this enemy of the royal family, he has no any chance to come on speaking terms again.

They don't support Margareta? So they want the Hohenzollerns? They do know it was getting unusual to draft in foreign princelings in 1866 let alone 2019? Especially when the Furst von Hohenzollern has outright said he's not interested for hundreds of different reasons.

The semi official status of the royal family is as good as it's likely to get for them if they actually want an official place in Romania. Nicholas isn't likely to get any better than that whether he officially legally makes up with his family or not.

They do not support the Hohenzollerns anymore since it is clear the Fürst and the Erbprinz keep far away from any pretension. Ms Rotaru and her club do support Nicholas because they see in the dashing young gentleman a promise for a new monarchy.

That neither the daughters nor the grandchildren of King Michael had any succession rights under the last royal Constitution would made one think: monarchists will support the proposed changes by King Michael in favour of his daughters and his grandchildren.

But hell no: the legitimacy of King Michael to propose Princess Margareta and her sisters is contested. That he proposed Nicholas as a successor is not contested. That he removed Nicholas as successor is contested again...

Did I already say one needs to make saltos mortale to understand Ms Rotaru's logica?

I think it is rather you who make things complicated. This lady-journalist highly questions the legimatacy of N`s removal and the decisions that have been made in the past 2 years regarding that removal.
She sees no future of the romanian monarchy under those who consider themselves "in charge" now (which, regarding only their age, besides other aspects, is completely true!) and favours the oldest male grandchild of the late King as head of the RF (who was, in her perception - but not hers alone - bullied out by a nasty intrigue) - I don´t know what this has to do with lack of logic or "salto mortales"...?!

The salto mortale one need is to understand that she contests the proposed change by King Michael which made his daughters successors indeed. Interestingly enough one of the consequences of that change, that Nicholas became a successor, was not contested. So apparently King Michael had the authority to decide so because this was not contested. But when the same King removed his grandson, the same authority was contested.

Now ne does not only need a salto mortale but also a double flip-flop and a reverse corkscrew to follow Ms Rotaru's logica.

In my eyes Nicholas indeed is a promise for the future Royal House. But engaging with people who are hostile to the Head of the House is never a smart move. As long as Nicholas has not distanced himself from this arch-intrigante with her hidden agenda, I see no reconciliation between Nicholas and his mother plus the other princesses.

Via Transilvanica: Nicolae al Romaniei and Levente Ianoși, bicycle testers
Nicolae al Romaniei, the grandson of King Mihai I, and Levente Ianoși, a multi-champion in the mountain bike and former participant in the World Championship, test the Via Transilvanica on bicycles.
"We started the first kilometers of the Via Transilvanica road, starting from Putna Monastery. A road that crosses Romania from Putna to Turnu Severin", Nicolae al Romaniei wrote on Facebook, who also posted a video: "I am with my new friend from Bistrița. We have three days on the road, on the bike, three days of walking, having fun.”
”VT Bucovina testers on the mountain bike are Nicolae al Romaniei and Levi Ianoși! Good way and success!”, The Tășuleasa Social Association wished them.
Via Transilvanica - "The road that unites" is a project born in 2018, by Centenary. Tășuleasa Social aims to arrange and document a nearly 1,000 km route that will cross Romania moving from North to South. When complete, Via Transilvanica will start from Drobeta Turnu Severin (Oltenia) - where King Carol I first entered the country - cross Transylvania and all its natural and cultural riches and will reach Putna ( Bukovina), where Stefan cel Mare rests. The route will cross 10 counties: Mehedinți, Caraș Severin, Hunedoara, Alba, Sibiu, Brașov, Harghita, Mureș, Bistrița-Năsăud and Suceava.
On July 22, the launch of Via Transilvanica in Bucovina (137 km) took place, and on July 26, in Brașov county .

Prince Nicolae of Romania is among those who have dared to travel kilometers already ready part of Via Transilvanica. He started from Putna, and the hiking will be done on two wheels.
He is a supporter of the Tășuleasa Social projects, being present numerous times at the actions of the association and a cycling lover. In this journey he did not start alone, but with Levente Ianoși, the man known for his stunts on two wheels.

Nicolae al Romaniei tested, on a bicycle, the route Via Transilvanica from Putna to Vatra Dornei
A challenge of the Via Transilvanica route from Bucovina was bicycle testing. The story of the route resembles a life story, in which the birth / beginning is difficult and painful and then, this suffering is wiped out, dissolved by the wonders we encounter along the way.
The ambassador of the project Via Transilvanica Nicolae al Romaniei together with Levente Ianosi, national champion at the trial, were the first cyclists we know who tested the route from Putna to Vatra Dornei, to check it and describe it for the public who wants to travel the Via Transilvanica Road by bicycle.
Our heroes arrived healthy at Tășuleasa Social after three hard days of pedaling and told something about this memorable adventure that represents a premiere for Via Transilvanica.
The most important conclusion is that this route can also be traveled by bicycle, but it has a high difficulty and professional equipment and good physical training are recommended. The most suitable bike is the enduro bike and it is not recommended to go the route on your own in any case.
The friends and promoters of the project, prince Nicolae and Levi Ianosi took on this adventure and challenge for the good of those who support this project, both by contributions and by traveling on foot, by bicycle or by horseback, which we thank them very much.
“I went from Putna to Vatra Dornei on a challenging route and perhaps the most difficult part of Via Transilvanica. The Sucevița - Sadova portion is very difficult, even if you have an enduro mountainbike (and I recommend that you do!). You will go further on the bike because the terrain is extremely steep, but when you reach the top of the hill, it will be worth all the effort. Bucovina gives you a picturesque landscape, warm people and good food", said Prince Nicolae.
“Via Transilvanica, specifically the part of Bucovina, is a very nice route to do by bicycle, with dreamy landscapes, but it is rather recommended for advanced and experienced cyclists on an enduro bike. In 4 days you can go the route without problems, but it is more about a push bike than a descent (mentioned in the guide!). Read the guide carefully, equip yourself properly and set off on a beautiful adventure on the beaches of Bucovina", said Levente Ianosi.
