Not exactly news or an event, but an old article about Margareta and Gordon Brown. https://archive.ph/wyQOg

Aside from being very much in love once, it hurts the head a little to think what would have happened if she'd married him. Either:
-she would have been a foreign political leader's wife and probably not suitable for her current job, or
-I'm really not sure how the post-communist Romanians would have taken to Mr. Brown's politics , or that he would have ever agreed to play a consort's role.

So assume Margareta is out of the running. Who's Custodian right now?

Her sister Princess Elena (picture last month) is the Number Two, she would have been the natural Custodian.

Yes, but King Michael seemed to have great hopes for his grandson, until they were dashed. If Margareta is Mrs. Brown and Nicholas Mills is the direct heir, is Michael so quick to disinherit him?

But Nicholas' mother, Princess Elena, still would have been the heiress to her sister Margareta, no matter her if her sister was married to a Radu or to a Gordon.

Nicholas was the Number Three when he was added to the line of succession and was the Number Three when said position was revoked. It is all very theoretical. It is possible Gordon Brown would have made total different career choices when he was married to Princess Margareta indeed. And probably the couple would have had children themselves.

Is there any officially confirmed reason why Margareta and Radu don't have any children?

They seem to have met a little later in life and married when the princess was 47.

Probably no urge was felt to procreate the royal dynasty because the five princesses were not even successors at all under the Constitution of Romania before the Communist coup.

On December 30th 2007 Margareta and her sistes became successors indeed in the new succession proposed by King Michael.

It is strange - like their visit to Huis ten Bosch in The Hague - that there are no pictures from the royal couple welcomed by QEII resp. by King WA.

Most remarkable that the Embassy of the Romanian Republic in London orders a statue of King Michael to be placed in the garden and requesting Princess Margareta to unveil it. The symbiosis between the Romanian republic and former Royal House remains intriguing.

Perhaps it is felt by some reigning houses that it's wise that there be no official photographs of meetings, lest it gets taken as official endorsement of a reinstatement of the monarchy in the event of a referendum?

Although the Romanian government clearly does not seem to have any objection to treating the family quasi or even semi officially these days.

It is a very interesting situation.

When they visited the Spanish RF back in 2018 there were photos inside and outside Zarzuela.

Yes.
Queen Victoria --> Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh --> Marie, Queen of Romania --> King Carol II --> King Michael I --> Margareta

Queen Victoria --> Edward VII --> George V --> George VI --> Elizabeth II

Third cousins, once removed.

However Margareta and Charles are second cousins due to the Greek relationship between King Michael and the Duke of Edinburgh (Philip).
