It's continually impressive how many international figures and Romanian public servants/politicians they meet for a "non reigning" House. And therefore the amount of active co-operation the Romanian government must give them.

Thank you for the update. Is "awarded out of competition" being selected with a competition or without?

I've been impressed by that as well. I think the Romanian royal family is the template for the future. I doubt there will be any monarchies restored. That being the case, I think former royal houses, like the Romanian one, can come to an accommodation with the republican governments in their respective countries and adopt an unofficial/official position. They can become a crowned republic like Romania. The people vote for their government and president and if they wish to, they can pay attention to and be inspired by the royal family. Or they're free to ignore them if they wish. Who knows, maybe over time, the royal families will win people over and there might be restorations via referendum. History is full of surprises.

The man behind Pss Sofia is apparently the brother of Prince Radu. The palace doesn't look exactly warm and welcoming.

Margareta, Custodian of the Crown, has sent a message to mark the 70th birthday of Romanian soprano Nelly Miricioiu and a concert in her honour.

Nelly Miricioiu also became a Commander of the Order of the Crown of Romania.

The Royal Palace in Amsterdam is as cold as this one, equally with shiny marble everywhere but a big carpet in a stoney hall certainly helps, see this example from over there:

Without carpet

With carpet

In the Romanion case the red carpet behind Radu makes it look even weirder.

I admire how Princess Margareta manages to keep a private royal domain running. In many reigning monarchies there often are no any private domains anymore.
