The mayor also stated that Crown Princess Margareta will be required to pay the tax (seeing as she isn't a war veteran!) and so there should be concern over the popularity of King Michael's descendants.

Now everybody speaks about properties and taxes not about restoration of Monarchy. What a pity.

Nothing that I am aware of - we may get some news and pictures when Princess Margareta and Prince Radu visit the King and Queen later this week.

Prince Radu made some comments about the health of the King a few days ago, where he said that although the King's condition was stable, his health was not improving. For a man of his advanced age affected by a serious medical condition, it's not a surprise at this stage.
I don't think we should expect much in the area of photos, the King is ill and the Queen is frail, and it doesn't seem the right thing to do, to photograph either one at this stage.

Prince Charles has always respected the Romanian royal couple very much.

I think all royals do. Here Queen Beatrix with King Michael at her palace in The Hague (also Queen Anne was there): http://66.media.tumblr.com/a1d3027e3...jnxo1_1280.jpg

With our former King Albert II , they are the only the 2 Royals still living who attend(s) (ed) Queen Elsabeth II's Coronation.

We seem to be sliding a little from the point of the thread, 'current events', with the coronation having taken place in 1952

Yes of course , but the King and the Queen of Romania were guests at all the Royal Events since more than 65 years.

Considering it was 63 years ago, and many of those in attendance were older than the queen who is 90 herself, not all surprising not many are still around. But Michael and Albert are not the only living royals who attended.
-Japan: Emperor Akihito attended as Crown Prince
-Luxeumbourg- GD Jean went as hereditary grand duke
then we have some of Philip's sisters' kids
-Max, Margrave of Baden (Theodora's son)
-Princess Dorothea of Hesse (Sophia's) her late sister also attended

Now their frail health do not allow them to do so anymore.

There are very few people 90+, royalty or commoner, who frequent official and social events, so this is not anything unusual. Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh, blessed with good health, are among the very few exceptions, although they also barely any longer go abroad, and King Michael and Queen Anne, both in declining health, are entitled to avoid the same and spend their days in their family home in Switzerland, where they are the most comfortable.
As Prince Radu said a few days ago, the Kings health is stable following his cancer diagnosis, but it should not be expected that it will improve much, due to his advanced age.

It is indeed sad that the King and Queen are unable to travel due to their health and advanced age. It would be a long journey between home in Switzerland and Romania and would be arduous for them both no matter how they travelled.
