The answer is never, unless she for some serves a purpose in campaigning against the Romanian Royal Family.

She is now the first grandchild of the King put on the list of succession of her Family.

Which should mean nothing to those who claim the list as illegitimate, or the Royal Family as not the ones representing the monarchy in Romania.

Lady Rohan, stop wasting your time. You'd have a better (and much more rational) conversation with a wall.

That may be true, but by the demise of her brother, from a Harry she became a William, so to speak, following her grandfather's rules. One would say this changed Karina Medforth Mills from a sideline figure into an important person in the (future) of the Romanian Royal House, applying Michael's rules. It is pretty strange that at such a family affair, at the same time probably the highest profiled ceremonial royal function in Romania since the fall of the monarchy, that then "the future" is absent and invisible for the Romanians.

As with any family, there are always those who are unable to attend various gatherings and events, due to whatever circumstances they find themselves in. One can only assume that is the case here, but I think one does her a disservice assuming that a lack of presence at the center of events is the same as not caring about or grieving the loss of her grandmother.
A funeral is a very special event, and something that most of us get to experience in private. Some people are not able to, or willing to, attend those at all. For someone who has lived their whole life in private, it might not be the right call for them to make, to be put on display and have oneself and ones grief watched and measured by others. That should be easy to respect.

Probably we do not really understand the plans of the family for the future.

I find the name of her tea shop puzzling. If she doesn't want to have anything to do with being royal, why does she name her shop RoyalTeas and have Princess Elena open it? It appears that she's not above using her royal connection for business purposes, but doesn't want the responsibility of her royal heritage.

Who has something to do with the shop? She or her mother?

Did you read the article?
Princess Helen opened a tea shop in Durham. The tea shop is owned by someone else who presumably asked Helen to "christen" the establishment as it is royalty-themed (though with regards to the British Royal family) and she is a princess. That was it.
No one knows what Karina does as an occupation - she is that private of a person.

It is quite unusual not to know the types of study and the present occupation of the grandaughter of the King. It's more and more difficult to understand this Family.

Is it so unusual?

It's quite clear that Karina wants to be a private person, who happens to be closely related to a Royal Family, even though she's in the line of succession. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if she eventually asks her grandfather or her aunt to remove her from the line.
To me at least, the message is clear: Karina Medforth-Mills doesn't wants to be part of the future of the Royal House of Romania (and she has every right to not want it). Eventually, very probably after the King's death, when the Crown Princess, then as Head of the House, has to decide what she wants for the future of the Family (as an institution) she'll have to decide between restoring Nicholas to his place in the line of succession or to groom Elisabeta-Maria as heir.
Personally, I hope Her Royal Highness will choose the former.

No it really isn't unusual when you take into consideration that she is a private individual. She just happens to have a grandfather who is the former king of a nation that is now a republic.
As to where she studies, works or lives is her business.

But she is on a list for the headship of her Family. She is less private if we consider this detail.
