:previous: This is the quote from the Forbes article:

The wedding to trump all weddings: the 1981 nuptials of Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to his bride, Princess Salama. The weeklong event's $44.5 million price tag would exceed $100 million today after adjusting for inflation. The ceremony took place in a stadium especially built for the occasion. Number of guests: 20,000.

Sheikh Mohammed married Sheikha Hind in 1979. I'm not aware who this "Princess Salama" is.

Its a mix up. They mean Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed CP of Abu Dhabi who married Sheikha Salama in 1981 ;)

I think they meant sheikh Mohammed's wedding to Sheikha Hind because the wedding was held in a stadium. I can remember reading about it from forbes itself and some other publication.

thanks dazzling yes it sheikhof abu dhabi, i thought somethings not sounding right lol.

Im pretty sure they are talking about the famously elaborate wedding of Shk Mohammed and Shka Hind.

Well, if they are they have both the wrong year and the wrong bride.

why do the abu dhabi sheikhs never make these lists???after all, they are the ones with the real power in UAE.

It's a Hello! magazine listing, not the Wall St Journal. Many Hello! readers would know of Dubai, probably few are aware of the other Emirates.

They prefer it that way, secrecy and being in control is what the family is about..notice that they never are in any rich lists as well, the poor poor Al-Nahyans that never ever mentions money...:D

Oh yes. But that's very cold in Moscow now. I wonder if they will be in their thobes or in costumes? I sppose the first anyway. But again, I think it's not suitable for Moscow climate.

The man's name is Sulim (Suleiman) Yamadaev, who was a commander of the battalion "East".

Mohammed makes tour of Red Square, Moscow

Haha, that's fun - I had been there just an hour before they took the tour I suppose. I just went through the Red Square to the library and then had the luch at GUM. Actually I'm tired of this sightseeing place because I have to walk there every day. Well, I hope the delegation enjoyed it though the weather was awful.

ps and that terrible story about Yamadaev. I've heard rumours that Sheikh Mohammed was very angry when he heard about that and first he was angry about Kadyrov (the president of Chechnya who some years ago said that he would kill Yamadaev). But it's the big question if Kadyrov is involved in murder.

Why did President Putin not escort HH Mohammed Bin Rashid around the tour.

Mr. Putin is a Prime Minister now, whereas Mr. Medvedev is an elected President of the Russian Federation. Thus, it is a part of Mr. Medvedev's responsibilities to escort Sheikh Mohammed touring the Red Square.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin (L) shakes hands with UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed al-Maktoum (R) in Moscow on March 31, 2009. The mystery over a former Russian army commander from Chechnya believed to have been murdered in Dubai deepened as his relatives insisted he was merely wounded and not dead. During the meeting with Vladimir Putin Sheikh Mohammed invited him to U.A.E.. and Putin said "shukran" (I wonder why all videos cut the end with arabic 'thank you" off, only government's site mentioned it)
