Do all pupils all over Sweden have holidays next week? Aren´t there congestions at the ski lifts? I´m not surprised, that not all university-students have holidays next week...usually universities are more flexible.
But I still hope for beach-pics *sigh*...

No, both week 7, 8 and 9 (maybe 6 aswell) are "holiday weeks" for the swedish schools.
The west, like Gothenburg, have week 7 off, the south and central areas of Sweden have week 8 and the pupils in Stockholm have their school break week 9. I´m not sure about the north parts of Sweden but I think they have their holidays earlier, like week 6 or something like that...

and yes, lets hope for some romantic beach photos of the princesses and their boyfriends :p

Yes, beach-photos...when have we seen the last one of the whole family (all 3 children together) in 1999 (?)
And they all were already skiing (the Royal couple at New year and about 2 weeks ago and the Royal children at New year too) this year...so is there a little chance (?)
And I would want to see (shame on me) real paparazzi-pictures of Daniel and Victoria, in which he doesn´t notice the photographer...in ALL pictures I´ve seen so far DanielII looked sceptically and angry into the camera...
BTW congratulations to your 1000 (+5) reached posts, Yennie :magic: :magic: :magic:

Where is Carl Philip, while this dinner is taking place?
Didn't I read the other day, that he is taking up ralley-driving .... so, practicing to become a winning driver, then?

Quite the dichotomy .... although sunbathing on the ski-slopes can happen ;)

Yes. I posted that. He's going to do some rally racing in the summer.

;) Hi -
Where is Carl Philip, while this dinner is taking place?

thanks
I´ve noticed, that it was the same in the last years...there are two representation-dinners...one in January and one in February...and usually Carl-Philip attends the first one in January and Madeleine the second in February.

My newest guess for their "secret holiday" is "Brazil"...Victoria had her last official duty on last Thursday, and her father on Wednesday. So they would have had enough time to go to Brazil for the finale of the famous carnival! They have done this before...
Other guesses are: skiing in Sweden (hig likely, but rather boring), Mauritius, skiing in France, Austria, Italy or the Switzerland (Italy would be more likely), North-African states, where you can spend time in the sun, and of course a home-sweet home-stay (or maybe in case of the Royal children at the homes of their future parents-in-law).
The strange thing is...always when I expect something great (Royal event, Royal holidays), nothing exciting happens, but when I expect nothing, then suddenly the greatest pictures appear. I bet this week it´s the same...no photos, or just very less, little boring photos...

Hey everybody!

About the Royal Family's whereabouts last week when they supposedly had their sportlov/winter holiday - here's an article from Aftonbladet that was published last wednesday on Prince Carl Philip! If you want help with any translation, just ask!

:p

Prinsen kör som en kung / The Prince (Carl Philip) drives like a king (published 25/2 in Aftonbladet)

It's me again!

I just found another article about Prince Carl Philip that was published by Expressen today, it's about him skiing Vasaloppet's öppet spår or "open track" as I think it translates in english, this morning.

Next Sunday the traditional skiing race Vasaloppet will be held (and The King will give out the prizes), a competition which hold an enourmous amount of tradition to it, and that is very much linked to the Royal Family (King Carl XVI Gustaf has skied "open track" three times!). The skiing race/competition race is held every year in Dalarna based on 1921 when King Gustav Vasas escaped from Mora in Dalarna towards Norway... Well anyway, I think you get the picture (if not, visit the official website www.vasaloppet.se).

Here's the link to the aricle:

Prince Carl Philip reaches finish in open track (published 1 March)

If anybody needs help with translation, just ask.

The Official Dinner, 18 March

On Thursday 18 March, Their Majesties The King & Queen hosted an official dinner at the Royal Palace of Stockholm, and where joined by HRH the Crown Princess & HRH Princess Lilian as they greeted their guests in Vita Havet (a room in the palace, translates to the ”white sea”). The menu consisted of (I hope my translation is correct, and that you understand): Carpaccio of salmon, lightly salted cod fillet, honey fried duck breast with morel sauce, and for dessert rosehip soufflé with almond milk soufflé, the dinner was taken in the Karl XI’s gallery.

150 guests were there, among them representatives from the Parliament, Government and official institutions, diplomats from both Sweden and abroad (the ambassadors from Russia, Ethiopia, Slovenia, Uruguay, Eritrea, Honduras, Czech Republic, Vietnam, Finland, Malta, Cuba, Lithuania and Albania), as well as representatives from the church, defence, justice system etc. etc.

Seminar at the Royal Palace of Stockholm

Here are some pictures from the seminar “value based leadership” for Scouts from all over Sweden, which was hosted and attended by Their Majesties The King & Queen, HRH the Crown Princess & HRH Prince Carl Philip on Thursday 18 March.

The Queen & the Crown Princess received Easter eggs filled with candy (Swedish Easter tradition)!

I remember that we discussed what the royal family would do for easter.
Now we know a little ;)
Victoria is in Stockholm, yesterday she went to a soccer game with Daniel.
The king and queen are in St Maxime

and I read that there will be a huge party at the club Olivia Valere in Marbella just like last year, so maybe Madeleine will show up there again this year...?

Yes, Daniel and Victoria were at the soccer-match yesterday, but the easter holidays just started...so Victoria and Daniel still could go to a sunny and warm place, with a lot of beaches....maybe Marbella...yes, I know, I´m a naive girl, who hopes for this again and again...and again. ;)

I wonder when the King may go to Kosovo since the original trip had to be cancelled.

I wonder that too! Hopefully it will be soon, the Swedish militaries at Camp Victoria must be very pleased that he is coming. I remeber the Crown Princess (who the base is named after) was there a few years ago.

According to the "calender" at www.royalcourt.se no one of the swedish Royal family will attend the wedding in the Netherlands next week...

 oh no!!! why not???? none of them? isn´t that a little bit surprising, after all, it is a princely weeding...

Yes, I have no clue, how Royals decide, to which international Royal events they go! For example Victoria and Madeleine were at the wedding of prince Laurent of Belgium, and Victoria was at the wedding of prince Contantijn...and now no one of them goes to the wedding of Johan Friso...is this maybe an "evidence", that they are against Mabel (??)

Obviously there´s really not a "problem" in the relationship of Daniel Westling to the Royal couple.
Or maybe the king thought, that he will solve the problem his way. The king to Daniel and Jonas:"if you race and win, you get my daughters as brides, if you race and fail you will see them never again" ;)

The king and Carl Philip

BTW the one, who drove on the grass wore a blue racing-suit, but Silvia wears a red one in the first picture (???)

you right! interesting...
btw, I love your avatar, Lena! Victoria looked really good at the christening...

so the king and his oldest son had a racing competition on a public motorway or what are the articles about?

 The Bernadotte-girls (Emma included...I´m quite sure, that she will become a Bernadotte-girl for real in the future) look so funny in these overalls....maybe they should wear it at galas ;)

Yes, that would be great. She is cool.

Emma is really petite. Compare her to Madeleine (who isn't really tall herself). Emma can't be more than 1,60 m. But I think she's very pretty and I hope that she and CP will get married soon!

Here are some more photos from yesterday`s outing to the Racecours. I mean the official one. Not the highway.

Do you have other links for those pics cause they don't work (at least not for me). Thank you.

Schwedischer König sieht sich als Raser am Pranger

Stockholm (AFP) - Der schwedische König Carl XVI. Gustav ist wegen Rasens auf
Now that is an interesting article.

I drove in Sweden in 2000, and they have excellent 4-lane highways - generally the same standard as German highways which are of unlimited speed. The Swedish highways had far less traffic than in Germany, and hence almost beg to be sped on.

My recollection is that on occasion I drove at more than 50 over the speed limit. And I am quite sure that there were others before and after me who committed similar (uncaught) transgressions. So, to put into perspective, it goes to show, that if you're in the "lime-light", you can do no right.

In my experience, the more socialist an area, the lower the speed limits !!! :flower:

Schwedischer König sieht sich als Raser am Pranger

Stockholm (AFP) - Der schwedische König Carl XVI.

Translation:

The swedish King Carl XVI Gustav has come under criticism for racing on the highway. The "Aftonbladet" newspaper reports that two drivers claim to have seen the 57 year old King accompanied by Queen Silvia driving at more than 50 kmph over the posted speed of 110 kmph on Sunday evening in his yellow Porsche Carrera.

Three BMW's in the entourage had difficulties maintaining the speed that the King was driving at (now, I find that hard to believe .. I bet the royal bodyguard drivers were just dumbfounded, and having to be careful to weave through traffic). One of the cars carried the 23 year old Princess Madeleine.

The King was racing his 24 year old son, Prince Carl Philip who was driving in the other lane of the highway in a blue Porsche .... Crown Princess Victoria was apparently also seen to be a passenger in this entourage.

A speaker of the Royalf Palace said the King did not speed, nor did he race with his son. More-over, they returned to Stockholm at different times.

Bad boy Christian ;) :p :brows: Well, but you´re probably right... I guess a lot of people (me included :innocent: ) often drive too fast on motorways...especially when they are almost alone on the motorway. And further I guess, that the truth is to find somewhere in the middle...Elisabeth Tarras-Wahlberg, spokesman of the court, said the king drove 120 kmph and Aftonbladet claims he drove 160 kmph...so he probably drove about 140 kmph most of the time...

"But I think she's very pretty and I hope that she and CP will get married soon!"

Yes, I hope so too! This is all much too dangerous. Driving this fast. It is not good.

When was the premiere of this musical? I´ve checked the calender at Royal court.se in the last 2-3 years every week...and I don´t think, that I can remember, that they went there offically...but of course I can be wrong...

Aftonbladet

Bascially, the king is generous towards his kids. He gives them 1.5 million kronor every year. That is about $196,000 US dollars. The article says that it can be done in the form of tax avoidance. But we know better. The king is a generous guy and wants to give them money. :innocent:
