Does Princess Lilian speak Swedish? I was watching the previous Nobel Prize Award Ceremonies, and noticed that when Du Gamla, Du Fria was played, she was not singing. I was wondering if it was because she just didn't want to sing, or if that she does not speak Swedish.
from aftonbladet its about that lillian and bertil had to wait so long to get married
i will try to translate it later

Thanks for all of the great photos of Lilian and her beloved Bertil.
"so it seems as Bernadottes can get quite old..."
This is quite true. To start off, the father of the dynasty, Karl XIV Johan lived to the ripe old age of 81. His son, Oscar I lived to be 60. Karl XV lived to be only 46. He was thus followed by his brother, Oscar II who lived until he was 78. Gustav V lived to be 92. And Gustav VI Adolf lived to be 90. And that´s not counting the long lifetimes of family members like Queen Ingrid and Prince Wilhelm. It´s a family with good long-living genes.
To be honest I always have to smile a little bit, when the Queen says (and she says it quite often) that the Bernadottes become so old. You can´t predict one´s death. This depends on so many things...how you lead your life (nourishment, sports, smoking), how much you love your life (ppl, who don´t see a sense in their life die earlier) also on genes (but every Bernadotte has also the genes from the mother-side), medical care also plays a role (a Royal get the best specialists...and they often try to prolong life, even to a point, on which the Royal patient vegetates more than he/she lives). Except that there´s always the danger of an accident.
Of course I hope the current Bernadottes have a long and satisfied life, but (un)fortunately it´s not predictable.
