It will be interesting to see how will evaluate the relationships of both siblings, I do mean Carl-Phillip& Sophia and Madeleine&Chris. In both cases there are some moments: in case of Carl-Phillip many people do criticize and remember Sophia's past, in Madeleine's case maybe they prefer to wait more as her previous engagement broke up unhappily. Now when Guillaume is engaged, I have a feeling that Carl-Philip can be next! (soon after his niece's baptism) They have been together for more or less two years, just like Guillaume and Stephanie (and Carl-Philip is two years older than Guillaume).
And some weeks or months later, but yeat this year, his sister will do the same thing!
What do you think?
The issue of Sofia (and C-P)'s title after marriage is major. Sweden is a liberal country and yet Sofia's past has been received similarly if she was dating a royal in more conservative Britain or Spain. That speaks volumes IMHO. I don't have one Swedish friend, who are all in favour of the monarchy, who think she is worthy of being a princess.
Unless the future spouse of Carl Philip gets the title of princess of Sweden and/or Duchess of Värmland at the time of the wedding, there is no possibility for her to get a title later on as the king of Sweden have no legal rights to give a title to a commoner. That is why Swedish royal princes who lost their titles when they married commoners got their title Count of Wisborg from Belgium or Luxembourg.Perhaps we might see a scenario like that which happened in Luxembourg when Prince Louis married Tessy Antony. ?
He retained his style and title but gave up his succession rights. Tessy got no style or title.
Granted, that situation was changed a few years years later when the Grand Duke Henri gave her the title of Princess of Luxembourg with the style, Her Royal Highness.
The king of Sweden have no constitutional rights to ennoble a commoner, the only title a royal spouse can get is prince/princess and/or duke/duchess. Nor does the possibility of a morganatic marriage exist in Sweden.I personally think that given her past, the title should be morganatic, like a countess or baroness, nothing at or above the title of Duchess.

That's interesting. Are we dealing with a possible "clean up" before a certain announcement?
I understand she has a sister ---- is her sister married with a family? Also is there an option for the couple to live in America like his sister seems to have done?
Thanks for clarifying, LadyFinn!
How reliable is SvenskDamtidning? If even part of what was written there is true, then we can expect three major events in upcoming months:
- Princess Estelle's christening
- Carl Philip and Sofia's engagement
- The ensuing debate on suitability and other issues
