This thread is for news about the family or monarchy as a whole, random sightings of the family, their attendance at unofficial things such as weddings/parties/etc.

The king is forced to skimp on travel and hotels
Figures soon to be public show the king declined their representation last year by over half. From 2 770 000 SEK to 1 386 000 SEK. There seems to be substantial savings on both trips, hotels and operational costs of the palace.
However, the royal family ask an additional 6.3 million of taxpayers - for "security".
The King is known to be an economic person and now it seems that he has tightened belts considerably. 2014 seems to have been saving times at the Palace although the apanage rose by 2.8 million to 126 908 000 SEK.
"Representation" includes the dinners the king and queen offer at their state visits, but despite that they made more state visits in 2014 than in 2013, the cost become less. Moreover, the king and queen had several large public parties at the Royal Palace, but it seems not to have affected the budget when the cost is much less.
The entire royal family travels a lot in their work and 2014 was a busy year, including the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Princess Leonore's birth in New York, Crown Princess Victoria's visit in Ghana and Tanzania. But despite the many trips and an intensive work schedule with many flights the king succeeded sharply cut costs. Travel and subsistence expenses fell from 4 608 000 SEK to 3 355 000.
King's Chief Financial Officer Jan Lindman is recognized as a skilled person and he, along with the king, has managed to bring down the Court's total operating expenses of 34 121 000 SEK to 25 577 009.
Although the king is skimping, he wants to have over six million more in funding for "security". What it is for security measures is not clear, but Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist will after wedding move to Villa Solbacken. "Extra security" may be a portion to the house's security.

Måns Zelmerlöw has been a favorite artist for the royal family for a long time.
Therefore, the family followed Måns Zelmerlöw's triumph in Europe with excitement. After the success the family now pays homage to the Eurovision hero.
- The Royal Family is just as excited as everyone else in Sweden and has of course followed this victory and thinks it's great for Sweden, says Margareta Thorgren, the director of the press deparment.
But it is not just Måns Zelmerlöw's artistic side which is highlighted in the greeting. The royal family also thinks that Måns Zelmerlöw is a good representative for Sweden in the world.
- The royal family thinks it is fun that Måns went all the way, he is a great ambassador for Sweden, says Thorgren.
Måns Zelmerlöw has performed three times at Victoria's birthday concert, he performed there last year too.

Victoria, Madeleine and Carl Philip have large private exchange portfolios with holdings of several million. But they also have the joint company Gluonen which manages their securities.
The company's managers have invested mostly in the big, famous Swedish solid companies in the manufacturing and export.
It seems to have worked. The investment strategy appears to be secure, long-term holdings without being carried away when the market swings. Gluonen's profit quadrupled from a year before. The profit after financial items was SEK 1.6 million, compared with just over 430,000 SEK for 2013, shows the fresh annual report.
Profit after tax was 1,253,722 SEK. The sum remains in the company without that Princess Madeleine, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Carl Philip charge any dividends. Unrestricted capital is now 13,150,180 SEK.
Even the king has a company, Bensor AB, which owns and operates Solliden Palace and Stenhammar Estate Management. Last year was SEK 13.3 million at the cash box.

The king, queen, Carl Philip and Sofia spent yesterday a day on the sea at king's "Ancylus". In the afternoon when they arrived back to Solliden, some friends had arrived. Madeleine's friend Louise Gottlieb with her boyfriend Ludvig Blomqvist had just come with a car from Stockholm. The king's and queen's friend Fredrik Gottlieb, Louise's father, had come with his own boat to Borgholm and was picked up by the king's adjutant to Solliden. More friends have been invited to spend the weekend in Solliden.

Isn't it amazing how looking at happy people makes you feel happy yourself? It certainly looked like Victoria was all set to let her hair down and rock while it took Daniel a little longer (maybe remembering Prince School).

Sofia took her lead from Victoria and while the concert started with Daniel and Carl Philip at sitting at opposite ends with that 'I wish it was a football game' look on both their faces, they too ended up rocking and looking like they were having a ball.

I think that sort of public fun and enjoyment is really good for the SRF and for the people of Sweden to see the younger royals having exactly the same sort of fun that they have.

All in all, it looked like a good time was had by all.

Victoria and Daniel are Roxette and Per Gessle fans. Roxette sang at their pre-wedding concert and they had asked them play also at their wedding party on their wedding day. Victoria and Daniel were also Per Gessle's and Gyllene Tider -band's concert in 2004 and Per Gessle's concert in Borgholm in 2007 with Madeleine and Jonas. Per Gessle has told that he was training at Daniel's gym and popped to Victoria there every now and then.
