I think that all this issue will be stuck as long as CG is king. Once there is the new accession, many thinks are going to to change, eventuallty.

Denmark in a way is similar to Sweden in the sense that Queen Margrethe and CP Frederik are technically the only members of the RF entitled to direct public funding, THe Danish court, however, openly acknowledges that part of the Queen's grant goes to Prince Joachim and openly publishes the amounts involved, so we know exactly how much money Joachim gets.

The problem in Sweden, as I see it, is that Carl Philip and Madeleine officially get no public money at all , but, in practice, they are indirectly funded by the King's grant and there is little transparency about how much money they get exactly and what the money is used for. Again, I doubt it is for clothing though.

Actually in Denmark Joachim gets also an own apanage (from which goes a part to Marie) and even Benedikte gets her own money from the State.
I think the Problem in Sweden is that it ist published how much of the money goes to Victoria, to Carl Philip to Madeleine etc. Apparently there is no obligation for the King to publish this detailed and therefore it is not done. And that in recent years he has asked for more money almost every year.
In Spain it is the same way then in Sweden and there is also no obligation to give exact Details. But then they started to give Details at the end of Juan Carlos's reign.

Swedish royal family is a success in the international media.

2016 has been a real jubilee to the Swedish royal family. Two princes have been born, the king celebrated his 70th birthday big and Queen Silvia celebrated this summer 40 years as queen. That there have been many positive developments within the royal family has echoed abroad. According to media monitoring company Meltwater between 1 January and 17 September this year there have been published 25,775 articles and reports about the royal family in the international media. The exposure corresponds to an advertising value of 720 million SEK, according to Meltwater. Prince Oscar's birth in March generated the most editorial posts, but if you look at the reactions at the social media, it is the Crown Princess's birthday that engages the most.

Kemal Alpek, the owner of pizzeria Ciao Ciao Grande, has told to Allt om Stockholm about the members of the royal family eating often at his pizzeria. The pizzeria is close to Östermalmstorg and many well-known Swedes eat there, such as Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Tomas Ledin and Björn Borg.
Daniel and Estelle were seen there in March.

The king and queen visit there now and then. But not as often as their children. Victoria and Carl Philip have eaten there ever since they were children. When they were teenagers they brought along their friends and now they come with their children, many times a month.
- I think they feel at home here, because they will always be left alone. One is always struck by how nice they are, Victoria is always so cute, Alpek says.
Carl Philip's first choice is Alpek-pizza, an extra all-variant with beef, bearnaise sauce, asparagus, onions, mozzarella and mushrooms. Victoria prefers a simple tomato pasta while the youngest, most of the children, tend to choose simpler pizzas Bambino and Margherita.
- The entire royal family is so humane and nice people and just like any other, says Kemal Alpek, saying first that they are like any customers.
Then he regrets and describes how proud he is that they come back year after year.

The cover page totally excluded Prince Carl Philip & his family. Where is Prince Alexander?!
:ermm:

Where is Nicolas? The picture seems to be if the sisters and kids, not the whole family. It's Nicolas who is glaringly missing.

What is wrong with it?

Well, living in Finland, I find it odd that in the winter someone sends a summer photo as a New Year greeting.

It is the only time that the whole family can be together relaxed and not official

Madeleine and her family came to Sweden before the Nobel festivities 10th December and even Chris has been in Sweden a lot in December, so they would have had good time to take a family photo for a New Year greeting.

It is also a pity that this photo at this greeting is so similar than the press photos taken on the same day, 15th July at Solliden. The only difference is that Estelle isn't with the king and queen but with her parents.

The Swedish Institute has published in November a four-page fact sheet about the Monarchy in Sweden.

And a change of clothes as well as positioning.

With the boys so young, it would have been nice to have a newer photo.

Yes, shame about the summery photo chosen but kudos to them for choosing a photo with all the family members in. Hopefully next year they will get organised to take a picture when they all reunite for the nobel festivities to make it more in tune with the Christmas season.

I doI honestly prefer the photos taken during summer! It doesn't matter if they are supposed to be for Chrismas! I liek far better the colorful, warm image that comes with it! But that bad photoshop needs to go!

Svensk Damtidning wrote on Thursday that Madeleine and family are also at Swiss Alps with the king and queen (the article had old photos). Madeleine and family went to Geneva to celebrate New Year with friends and shortly the king and queen also arrived to the Alps. Madeleine is there to support her mother after her illness.
Also a lot of their friends are at the Alps: Caroline Kreuger Nilsson, her mother Agneta Kreuger with Lars Abrahamsson. And Christoffer Cederlund and Charlotte Cederlund (Caroline Nilsson's sister), Lovisa De Geer and Niclas Bolle, Carola Gottlieb, Fredrik Gottlieb and Louise Gottlieb have also travelled to the Alps with the royal family.

The new year family photo is all right. I'd prefer a recent photo; it doesn't have to be Christmas-y or festive. Whoever is editing photos needs to ease up on the photoshop. The adults look plastic.

Glad Silvia is better, and enjoying the holiday with her husband, daughter, son in law and grandkids. :flowers:

I have to say that in that photo released by the palace, the king and queen do make a cute couple! <3

True, but with three children too young to understand "look at the camera! smile!" they could very well have made some other attempts at a group photo but not gotten a workable one since July. Kids are difficult that way!

Stockholm's Mayor is taking on Climate Change
Royal Allies
Mayor Karin Wanngård, who became interested in climate policy after reading statements by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and economist Jeffrey Sachs, among others, began pushing for climate action in Stockholm as a city councilor. Now, “I can do even more”, she said.
She has had help from some unusual allies, including Sweden’s royal family. At the Nobel Prize giving ceremony in Stockholm last December, both Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria pointedly wore dresses made of recycled material.
“When it comes to people like that, who have the possibility to buy really, really expensive dresses and they go for recycled fabric, that starts a trend and everyone wants to do the same,” Wanngård said.

King Carl Gustaf, queen Silvia and Carl Philip attended at the funeral of count Carl Adam "Noppe" Lewenhaupt at the Hedvig Eleonora Church. Noppe was one king Carl Gustaf's closest friends, already from childhood. According to Svensk Damtidning, over 700 people attended at the funeral.

According to Svensk Damtidning, Noppe had wanted that Europe's "The Final Countdown" would be played at his funeral, and it was. Noppe's friend Carola Häggkvist performed an acoustic version of the song. And when she sang, queen Silvia cried, tells Svensk Damtidning's reporter.

- The couples don't always do things together. But in this case Prince Carl Philip had the opportunity to attend the funeral, and is here together with the king and queen, says Margareta Thorgren, director of the press department.

Video of the arrival to Noppe's funeral
Noppes begravning ankomst till kyrkan

After the service, priest Hans Rhodin explained to the media that he had had many talks with Noppe's family and people closest to him and they decided to talk about "Noppe's" death in the speech. The family wanted to tell it now so that there should be no speculation.
- "Noppe" chose to leave us and mortality. He chose to do it when he thought it was the best time, when everything was as usual, the priest said initially during the service.
- You, who were very close to "Noppe" were concerned that this could happen. Lee, you saw "Noppe" look himself in the mirror and he did not like what he saw. Maybe he was afraid of getting old. Afraid to be a load. Maybe it was the chemical imbalance. We do not know why he chose it. But our faith, that we have talked about, Lee and I, it's that God is close to us all the time. And especially when we have what is most difficult. Then God is there. And now, "Noppe" is united with his parents and siblings who have preceded him into eternity, said Hans Rhodin.

I wonder if the late Carl Adam Lewenhaupt was related to Count (?) Adam Ludwig Lewenhaupt, who died in Moscow in 1719.

I work in Hedvig Eleonora Church and was on duty during Count Carl Adam's funeral service. Around 700 people inside the Church. A very emotional and touching but also glad and uplifting service. The sermon was very emotional and touching but also funny with many anecdotes from his life. Also very serious as the priest told in the beginning of the sermon at the request of the family to stop any further speculations that "Noppe" choosed to end his life and that no one knows why he did it.

Swedish artists Carola Häggkvist, Emilia De Poret and Fredrik Benedict Nybladh sang during the service. Former ABBA guitarist Janne Schaffer played guitar.
