Queen Rania to Speak at Seminar
JEDDAH, 26 April 2008 — Queen Rania of Jordan will deliver the keynote address at the formal opening of the two-day 6th annual Learning and Technology Symposium at the Jeddah Hilton tonight. The event is being supported by Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal.

JEDDAH - Queen Rania Abdullah, wife of King Abdallah II of Jordan, will visit for the first time, the headquarters of the Islamic Development Bank on Saturday to acquaint herself with the activities of the IDB Group as well as its efforts to support development plans and programs in IDB member countries. …When I edited the national news section of The Jordan Times in 2001 and 2002, I was often handed long press releases describing Queen Raina’s visit to a high school or orphanage that had to be printed unedited, along with pictures, as lead stories. Thousands of words praising King Abdullah’s directives to clean up a hospital or build housing for the poor, or his attempts to assist beleaguered Palestinian officials, would also run unedited—straight from the palace to the pages of the newspaper…

Thank you for the photos. This is one of the few times that I've seen the Queen wearing the hijab.

Thanks for the photos, I don't suppose anybody has access to a videoclip of Rania speaking in Jeddah? She looked lovely.

Amman, April 27, (Petra) His Majesty King Abdullah II heads for Sharm Al Sheikh tomorrow Monday on a brief visit to Egypt during which he will hold talks with Egyptian President Mohammad Hosni Mubarak on developments in the region and peace making efforts.

After that King Abdullah will leave for Kuwait on a two-day working visit to take part in the fourth World Islamic Economic Forum opening Tuesday.

Thanks for posting this Adamari, it is certainly a much more realistic appraisal of the situation regarding the king and queen than what is written in Ahlan or Vogue which is used a PR vehicle. People should remember that the public face is not always the same as the private person.

Sharm El Shaikh, April 28 (Petra)-- His Majesty King Abdullah II and Egyptian President Muhammed Husni Mubarak affirmed the importance of achieving a substantive progress in the peace process leading to practical results on the ground, warning that the slowdown in achieving this goal would increase the complexities of the situation and exacerbate tensions and resentment in the region.

An interview with Colleen McGuire who has participated in the "Follow the Women" cycling tour around the Middle East.

"We also ride with the Queen of Jordan, Queen Rania. I had the privilege to ride next to her and she asked me about life in New York. She is a Palestinian herself and very conscientious of the Palestinian problem of a denial for their statehood. Queen Rania is actually a runner more than a biker. She is supporting us again this FTW '08. "

Queen Rania wrote a piece for Time about Madeeha Hasan Odhaib, an Iraqi woman who is in this year's "Time 100" list.

KOURA DISTRICT - His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday ordered a comprehensive plan for Koura District to address its problems and meet the needs of its 110,000 residents.
The plan entails the allocation of JD4 million to implement several projects in the fields of health, education and services to address the socio-economic challenges the district's inhabitants face and improve their living condition

The body of Obeidat was recently exhumed in the East Jerusalem suburb of Anata and was handed over to the Jordan Armed Forces in March. He was buried the following month with full military honours in his native village of Yubla, which His Majesty King Abdullah visited yesterday and called on Obeidat's family.
