I wonder what language these families will speak during their visit. Dutch and German are similar, most of the DRF speaks French but I don't know about the Dutch. Maybe they'll just resort to English.
Tonight should be interesting - I hope to see some serious bling!

I'm pretty sure they will talk in English. I believe neither Maxima nor Mary are fluent in German, and Dutch and German, although similar, are nor mutually intelligible.

I don't think that Maxima, Mary, Marie & Henrik speak German. And Dutch and Danish are different enough to make unlikely that they would understand each other. On the other hand English must have become second nature to all of them, they speak it so often when they are abroad. So I'd say: they mainly converse in English.

I think you are right, the common language must be English.

At first I was surprised that even Prince Richard was at the welcome ceremony. But then I seem to remember that Richard and Benedikte met at some wedding festivities in NL, I think it was the wedding of Beatrix & Claus. So he must have a personal connection with the Dutch family as well.

They will speak English to one another; the bling can already be seen on Queen Maxima's coat, that I find quite smart and very beautiful indeed. I also like the shoe game, I believe both the Dutch queen and the Danish crown princess are wearing Louboutin. The Danish princes wearing Orange ties is a bonus, bravo

ADDED.
From BB: http://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelige...-i-fredensborg
King WA exclaimed at Fredensborg that the weather was so lovely that he wanted to stay the whole week.

How thoughtful of Queen Máxima to choose a Danish designer, Claes Iversen, for her arrival outfit. It is also refreshing to leave the known path (Natan).

"Second thoughts to her 2010 wedding?" DM couldn't even get the details correct about Frederik and Mary's wedding.
TAK! To all who have shared information from today. QMII in a familiar hat and outfit greeted her godson fondly along with her glamorous sister and daughters-in-law. The Danish gentlemen provided a warm welcome in their orange ties.

Just to be clear: They didn´t went to Aalborg in Jutland. Aalborg University has a department in Copenhagen, so it was that site that they went to

DR1 will cover the gala dinner from 19.05. That's in 30 minutes from now. They will start with the guests arriving, culminating naturally with the DRF and NLRF. - Plenty of bling coming up!
Are you able to watch this? https://www.dr.dk/tv/live/dr1#!/
They are sending news right now.
At 21.55 DR1 will again send from state visit today.

Once again it's geo-blocked, at least at the moment:
