She probably came to the dinner out of respect and the fact that
she and Fred are going there next year.

Isn't she still breastfeeding? I think she looked really tired during the dinner.

I miss seeing Mary, but I have to admit I enjoy seeing Marie "front and center" so to speak. She appears confident and seems to be enjoying her role in the DRF.

Thank you

Well, la belle Marie was photographed in angles that would lead to many women contemplating murder.
But then her popo is after all one of the more fascinating features of her petite frame.
Methinks she has gained a couple of kilos, and they become her as she has gained them in the right places.

And it delights me to again notice how Joachim, being the gentleman he is, naturally leads his lady by the arm. That's style.

Marie has been IMO a true asset to the Danish Royal family.

Mary has 4 kids...with 2 being only 4 months old...she needs a bit of a break for now. She has years and years ahead when she will be "front and center" as Crown Princess...and then Queen.

It isn't wise to set up an argument over Mary/Marie. You can like Mary without attempting to annoy people who would feel they should leap to Marie's defence. I think they are both an asset to the DRF.

I agree! They both are assets to their husbands, families and the DRF! There is room enough in the DRF and Denmark for both Crown Princess Mary and Princess Marie. I'm sure that at this time while she is on maternity leave, CP Mary is glad that Marie is around. As a matter of fact, Princess Marie recently attended an official event for one of CP Mary's patronages - Research Day.

Both women enjoy a close relationship and have specific roles in the DRF. There is no need to have a competition between them.

Couldn't agree more. I hope she is getting a little rest between caring for the four little ones/

After the first 14 weeks each parents can go on leave for up to 32 weeks. That period will however be divided between the parents. Say the mother 20 weeks and the father 12 weeks.
Or you can go on leave later on, before the child turns 9. That's what Mrs. Muhler did with ours.

That's 4 weeks + 2 (for the father) + 14 weeks + 32 weeks = 52 weeks in total.
thank you so much for the explanation!!!!

A funny gallery from Billed Bladet: https://picasaweb.google.com/billedb...vPaGlyptoteket#

The fair Marie is sitting between her Joachim and Frederik.

Joachim and Frederik both have some very interesting facial expressions!

Our Marie seems to have a good rapport with her brother-in-law.

Summary of a number of articles about the state visit in Billed Bladet #20, 2011.
All written by Annelise Weimann.

When the Korean President Lee Myung-bak and his wife, Kim Yook-on touched down at the airport, almost the entire DRF, except for Mary, was lined up to greet them.
QMII in a dress from Celli Freifeldt. The fair Marie had her hair done by Dennis Knudsen as usual.
After being driven from the airport the Korean guests were escorted by the Horse Squadron from The Guards Hussars from Fredensborg up to the palace.

Here the Korean President was presented with Order of the Elephant, the first lady was presented with the Grand Cross of the Order of Dannebrog.

Then it was time for the gala dinner in the evening. The Danish government and who's who of the Danish business world showed up.

Sternchen: The unidentified uniformed lady you asked me about is ambassador and chief of protocol, Jette Nordam.

At the dinner the Music Corps of the Royal Lifeguard played Korean folk tunes and Danish polkas and gallops. They are professional musicians, only employed by the Ministry of Defence.
QMII wore a dress from Birgitte Thaulow and la joli Marie wore a dress from Rikke Gudnitz.

The next day the Korean President placed a wreath at the monument for the hospitalship Jutlandia, which saw service during the Korean War. After that he talked to some of those who had served onboard Jutlandia.

The Koreans hosted a return reception at Glyptoteket in Copenhagen and again all of the DRF showed up, except Mary.
Princess Marie was seated between Joachim and Frederik and whatever the brothers were talking about it wasn't serious! The faces the two of them for whatever reason put up made both Benedikte and Marie laugh.
