In the French newspapers they wrote : Les Danois considèrent Emmanuel Macron comme une super star .
I wanted to read more informations about the President and what he said in Denmark (Tour de France !) than a minor Princess Tiara .(even daily Mail)
We will know more in Helsinki , there will be no royals and no jewels.

i am thinking that marie has done a great job at representing the colours of the french flag in her gala dinner outfit, with the red dress and the while and blue tiara :) i am sure it was not by coincidence.

Oh dear, my post was written in a hurry. Had to answer my wife. ;)

Now it's correct.
For whatever reason the Presidential Couple was late - again...
Perhaps their schedule has been too tight?
A few minutes delay means you are late for something else, especially the latter events. And that seems to be the case with the return dinner.

I do like the white dress on the first lady as the hemline is a better length. I really think Mrs Macron should wear her dresses to the knees mostly to cover them up as she has a very slim frame. The look she goes for is not as attractive as it would be if she wore 3/4 length sleeves and a longer hemline.
A few extra kilo's would be much more attractive for her, as she is already an attractive lady and looked very nice at the gala dinner.

Perhaps he has outgrown his uniform? Not horizontally, but vertically? ?
Only kidding. Or perhaps a loving daughter, while make a painting to dad, decided to place a red hand on a sleeve? Or the family dog with muddy paws jumped up dad's trouser legs?
Or perhaps Frederik, by shortening the uniform legs, tried to see if he could get his brother to run around in circles in blind panic?
Or our Marie suggested he would look sooo much better in a suit, and to a true gentlemen any suggestion from a lady is a command.
We shall never know... :sad:

Just because it's repeated constantly by, mostly, Americans on this forum, does not make it any more correct. In monarchies we curtsey to royalty, out of respect and tradition. That's it, c'est ca and life goes on.

Correction: in SOME monarchies it is still the custom to curtsey. In others it no longer is expected.

More than arsh they are frankly offensive.
As the the DM comments section is famous for its sexism, ageism, anti european feelings and good'ol French bashing Madame Macron, bless her, is the perfect target.

You were right, the origin of the tiara was bound to surface. But it is neither a re-work nor a vintage tiara, so we were both wrong on that. It actually is a brand new tiara, made exclusively for this State Visit be french jewelry firm Mauboussin.

I´m sorry too - perhaps I´m oldfashioned, but I actually Do think a president´s wife IS inferior to a King or Queen! In the Vatican, after a pope´s funeral for instance, invited heads of state meeting the new Pope are seperated between crowned and elected ones. The monarchs are being greeted first, only after Royalty the republican heads of state are greeted by the Pope.

And no, curtseys should never disappear as they are one of the most elegant and chivalrous greeting gestures of a person meeting Royalty I could think of!

A couple of trivia based on an article in Billed Bladet #35, 2018.

This covers the first couple of hours of the visit and you can find the scans in Faereo thread.
In the scan where QMII is kissing Mary on the cheek there is a nasty bruise on her left forearm. Guess she fell or knocked it against something.

During the ceremony at Kastellet (The Citadel) Mary wore a brooch by Charlotte Lynggaard. It consists of leaves in 18 carats red and rose-gold, decorated with diamonds.
Her dress was by Raquel Diniz.

Here President Macron met the oldest surviving Dane from Normandy in 1944, 96 year old Evald Brinck.

Most of the conversation all through the forenoon was in French.

After being welcomed at Amalienborg, they all went inside the mansion where the Presidential couple slept the night they spend in DK and here the President signed his name on a pane of glass that will later be put in one of the windows at Fredensborg Palace, as is tradition.

I actually thought Mrs Macron’s wardrobe was much better than usual for this visit. Her red, orange and white daytime outfits were great and her evening gown, while not to my taste, was not bad. Her hair and makeup were also quite good, imo.
 
Well, one present that was presented was a Tour de France shirt for the PM. It is seen as an almost sure sign that Tour de France 2020 will start in DK.
The PM was over the moon!

And the very sports interested CP-family is with guarantee pleased as well.

It's good to see that CP Mary is very much part of the state visit and is being groomed to be queen.

At the gala QMII wore a dress by Birgitte Thaulow, her hair was done by Poul Nejlund. She wore the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor.
Madame Macron wore a dress by Louis Vuitton.
M&F both wore the French Grand Cross. She wore a dress by Lasse Spangenberg and it was Lasse Spangenberg who had added the balck fabric t her dress, that acted as a minor train.
Mary and Madame Macron have met previously and also had lunch together at the Elysee Palais in connection with an OECD meeting some time ago.
Marie wore a dress by Rikke Gudnitz while Benedikte wore a dress by Wichmann Couture.

The Presidential Couple wrote their names on a pane of glass that will be inserted in one of the windows at Fredensborg Palace.

The visit lasted altogether 29 hours, so it was a very tight schedule which may explain that when it was time for the return dinner there were no one to receive Benedikte when she according to protocol was the first of the DRF members to arrive.
The Presidential Couple was indeed a few minutes late and when they came, the quickly entered a side entrance so that they could greet Benedikte properly at the entrance. - Just in time to also greet Joachim and Marie who were arriving that moment.
Inside President Macron gave a speech, where he mentioned the popular French ambassador, Francoise Zimeray, who was relieved here on the 1. September. That led to everyone in the room to stand up and give a visibly moved ambassador a standing ovation lasting several minutes. - Whereupon the President continued his speech.
Marie was seen having a longer chat with first Madame Macron and later President Macron.

They were speaking of first ladies of republics.

I am not an expert, but it does appear to me that in the normal course of events curtseys are performed by the individual who is of inferior rank towards the individual who is of superior rank, and not the other way around. For example, the Queen undeniably respects both of her daughters-in-law, but I cannot recall her curtseying back to them when they curtsey to her.
