The future Christian VI was the eldest son of Frederick IV of Denmark and Louise of Mecklenburg-Güstrow and reigned 1730-1746.
Following the death of his mother in 1721 his father married Anne Sophie Reventlow whom Christian detested and placed her under house arrest after he became king.

Philippa of England was a powerful and politically active queen who also served as Regent from 1423-1425.The queen was also deeply attached to Vadstena Abbey where she made several donations and following her sudden death the queen was laid to rest here.

Christian II seems to have flip flopped from Catholic to Lutheran and back to Catholic before he died.
His children were educated by their maternal aunt Mary of Hungary and given a Catholic education at her Dutch court.

His reign of 59 years is so far the longest reign of a Danish monarch ,he was also king of and Duke of Holstein and Schleswig .
The king is buried in Roskilde Cathedral .

The queen created an order known as the Ordre de l'Union Parfaite in 1732 but sadly was not awarded after her death.
