... June 28 (Monday) is an "off-day".
Any takers, as to what they will be doing today ....
- watch satellite TV ? Together or in their separate boardrooms?
- play patience ?
- play bridge ?
- coin rhymes ?
- the crew has a rest day, so they show off their culinary skills in the kitchen er...galley ?
- make music with jewsharp, maracas, table fork and radio knobs ?
- take a walk on some desolate shoreline ?
- go skinny-dipping ?
- engage in some target practice ?
- have a good lie-in ?
- tell fishing stories about that one that got away ? :)
Thank you, Chanel !!!

According to Ritzau, the local authority of Qaanaaq in Greenland has imposed a ban against selling alcohol due to the visit of the royal family. The visit will be Thursday and Friday this week. The same days, there will be payment of wages, and that usually means a lot of drunken people on the streets. Apparently the local authority wants to avoid that

Thursday, July 01
Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Prince Consort fly with helicopter to visit in Siorapaluk (morning) and in Qaanaaq (afternoon).
The Crown Prince Couple fly to Qaanaaq, to visit the same day.
The Royal Family returns to Pituffik (Thule Air Base), and remains overnight.

... what airline is that?
|
Greenland Air.

Yes, or a variation thereof. In the rare event -- hasn't to my knowledge happened to date -- of a crash, then red is very quick way of seeing the desired rescue object.

Whereas regular planes need narrow, very long runways ... this plane can land on very very very wide, short runways.

An article with great pics not only of the couple, but the beautiful sceneries in Greenland.
Hello!

Well, that's what the article said - that he was touched to tears - and to me, he looks rather touched
Based on the picture, I would also say, that they are inside - and I sure do not hope, that it's windy even inside :P

An article in BT on Frederik's first visit to Qaanaaq in 4 years, and Marys first visit at all.
Frederik stayed in the village for 4 months prior the The Sirius 2000 Expedition. He has made a lot of friends there, and he got a very warm welcome.
|
Instead of translating all of the article, I took the liberty of making a short summary - and I would say, that the summary pretty much contains the relevant, informative stuff

Lol... yeah "touched" seems to be something that Danes use quite a bit.
I remember for the wedding telecast here in Australia, we had a Danish commentator (I think someone from DR?) and when Frederik started having tears in his eyes, the commentator said "Crown Prince Frederik seems to be touching already" ....

It seems that the Royal Family's trip to Greenland is a huge success. The Crown Prince chose well. Bravo Mary!
