Mary is wearing a mess uniform.
It's a good uniform, very feminine. - It is, I understand, optional whether female officers wish to wear a skirt or pants as their mess uniform.
I notice the generals flanking QMII and Mary were wearing gala uniforms.

The dog gets to come to the banquet, too? :)
Isn't Mary's outfit just a military jacket over an evening gown? The evening gown is presumably not military standard.

No, it's a mess jacket with a gown. But You can't just use any gown.
You will sometimes see Frederik in a mess uniform as well.
This is just a more feminine version.
- such a feminine variant had been requested for some time.

On 29. September 2021 H.M. The Queen hosts a State Council dinner at Fredensborg Palace. In addition to the Queen, the Crown Prince Couple, the government, the Secretary of State and employees from the Court will also participate in the dinner. The most recent dinner was held in 2017 and the aim is for a State Council dinner to be held in each election period.

Not that Joachim said much.
He pointed out that the Danish movie industry is busy and doing well these days, and it's interesting to meet people from the industry.

It's no coincidence that both QMII and Frederik will receive the Ukrainian Foreign Minister.
Normally a foreign minister would be received by a minister or at best Frederik.
So this is showing solidarity with Ukraine in connection with the tense situation along the Ukrainian and Russian border.
Ukraine is as you all know not member of NATO, but a number of NATO countries, including DK, has deployed military to the general region and not least the three Baltic countries. And of more immediate use for Ukraine also delivered military equipment (and we may guess intelligence) to Ukraine.
Is there a risk of a NATO-Russia confrontation? I don't think so. Or at least I cannot imagine that being part of a plan. The Russian government want something they can show of publicly as a show of strength. However, there is always the risk that someone somewhere do something wrong and then we may have a NATO-Russian skirmish on our hands.
It will also be interesting to see whether the Russian government is playing a gamble that may backfire, in which case we will see Finland and Sweden join NATO within a year or two - I can't see Georgia join NATO, that would be a step too far.
I suspect a likely outcome will be that the world (read NATO and EU) will de facto accept the annexation of Crimea and the Donbas region in Ukraine. In return Russia will grudgingly accept Finland and Sweden joining NATO, with Ukraine moving very close to EU.

This visit could be interesting even awkward!
https://www.bt.dk/royale/bts-royale-...rew-sagen-naar
As you know Kate will be visiting DK tomorrow and spend time with in particular Mary in relation with various projects.
The British embassy has requested (apparently almost ordering) the press not to ask Kate questions about Prince Andrew. The embassy warns that Journalists attempting to ask questions will be turned away. - But can they do that in Denmark? It is very rare that a journalist is asked to leave here.
The problem is that there are different traditions regarding the press and the royal in DK. In DK is more than common that the royals answer a few questions and perhaps even give a short interview in connection with whatever event they are attending. Mary in particular does that all the time. The purpose of course being to bring forward a message.
The opinion from BT in article hints that the Danish press see the request from the embassy as a provocation and now very much intend to ask Kate questions about Andrew.
The poll in the article show that 70 % find it acceptable that the BRF don't answer questions about Andrew.
- I tend to agree actually. This is something you ask Charles or William - expecting a comment from them. But Kate (at least officially) is outside the process of how the Andrew-issue has been handled within the BRF.
- Having said that it will be interesting to compare the two approaches. As said before it's more than common that Mary gives a little factual interview.
I don't follow Kate that much, so I don't really know whether she does something similar.

Kate doesn't answer questions at her events. In fact, her events appear to be very choreographed.
My fear is that if a Danish reporter asks a question, the British media will retaliate using Mary. And if people don't think they will, well....this trip is very much PR first and foremost imo.
And how can the British Embassy basically threaten the Danish media?

Hmm, how so? Mary can easily deflect questions about Andrew.
I think the embassy directed its request mainly at the British press, without perhaps considering how the Danish press will respond.
If a British official show a Danish journalist the door - in Denmark - the rest of the Danish journalists could very well walk out in sympathy. It's a real possibility!
That of course is a bad scenario.
What I find interesting is that if Kate doesn't answer questions but Mary usually always do and indeed is expected to answer questions and give statements, it would certainly look odd!
I can of course see the DRF adopt the BRF approach as a courtesy, because as I see it, this is mainly a PR-trip for Kate.
It would be, I think, a bit shallow, if Kate is on a fact-finding mission to DK and doesn't even come up with a statement. Then it is reduced to a photo op and a comparison about who is most stylish - and neither Mary nor Kate deserve that.
