 Thank you, Roskilde.
And lest anyone should forget, Joachim and our Marie were there as well.
Joachim wearing his staff-officer's uniform (as in a commanding officer with a staff. A full colonel being such a creature).

And great to see the Crown Prince couple back after their Australia trip. I want to mention something other than the dresses that made impression tonight. I smiled warmly at the sight of Frederik and Mary arriving - they don't walk the 'only' four meters from the car to the main staircase without taking each other's hands and cuddle them, and the whole time looking, smiling and be aware of each other - despite so many people and fuss around them. Then the dresses come in second for me - for that is the most important! :)
We shall also enjoy the sight of prince Henrik tonight because who know when we see him again...

Here is a link from kongehust.dk releasing details about the music and menu of tonight's banquet:

I am unable to get the article working on Google Translate's website, though if you use Google you should be provided with an automatic translation.

Well, to be honest I think the feather-things are a bit too much. I prefer the kepi actually.
And the black frills on Frederik new hat doesn't look good either.
But once they take off their hats, it looks better.

Mary's dress is fabulous, and she looks so happy and relaxed. On another blog, there was a discussion about gala dresses. Apparently, when they are made, extra fabric is ordered, and the dress is made in such a way that it can be reworked. In this case, I think it is the skirt from the Bambi awards dress, which was two-piece. But notice the detail on the sleeves - it matches the skirt, so there had to be extra fabric involved. In any case, this is one of the most beautiful dresses she has ever worn, and I hope we see it again. Frederik looks good, too.

Mary is lovely as always. But I think the upper part night blue velvet comes from another gown she worn years ago, in another New year's reception

Muller, can you explain why you always refer to Joachim's wife as 'our' Marie, but you never refer to CP Mary this way? I have often wondered...
Oops Muhler! Autocorrect, sorry!

I actually find it really irritating to read 'our' Marie every time you mention her.

It started as an internal joke on another forum and I have simply continued it here and now it has become a kind of trademark.
It is very much meant as an endearment.
Why I never do something similar in regards to Mary is difficult to explain. It's something to do with the way I regard her. - I would never dream about referring to QMII as Daisy either.
ADDED: Well, Fox. You just have to live with it or put me on ignore.

Or you could stop using the frase 'our'.

Is the "kepi" the smaller hat that Joachim wore in the past?

It is.

Then you'd have to do a lot more posting and a lot more translating, because my idiosyncrasies helps me to remember putting a healthy distance to what I write.
But of course if there is a general wish for me to drop "our Marie" and similar idiosyncrasies I shall, stop.

Write what you like Muhler. I have enjoyed your posts for years. Very interesting to see how Mary reworks dresses. She has a great seamstress. This dress is super wonderful!!!

Keep using it Muhler as I have always looked at it as a term of endearment. Maybe I'll start using it as well!!!!
