The cape is gorgeous.  The purple color is amazing and goes so well with the beautiful white gown. I think Mary chose well.

BB continues the coverage of the New Year Courts.

Mary wore a blue dress from Prada at the New Year court for the diplomatic corps. Her LiW, Tanjo Doky wore a light blue dress by Piia May, recycled from 2013.
Diplomats from no less than 77 nations were present, many of them wearing national costumes.
Due to QMII's bad knees and PH's poor back, they both sat down.
After haven welcomed the diplomats, the doyen of the diplomatic corps gives a speech, after which they all, according to seniority, line up to personally greet the DRF. Then there is reception in an adjescent room.
There was also a court for the top three classes of ranks in DK and this year 790 had shown up.
M&F arrived first at 9.22 while the Regent Couple arrived in a carriage escorted by the Guards Hussars.
And in case you are interested 140 liters of coffee and sixteen kilos of cookies were served for the guests.

Friday, January 1, 2016 will hold royal couple New Year's reception and -taffel of government and special guests in Christian VII's Palace, Amalienborg.
Tuesday, January 5 held first New Year's reception for Supreme Court judges, The Royal Guard and the regiments officer corps in Christian VII's Palace. The royal couple will hold subsequent New Year's reception for the diplomatic corps at Christiansborg Palace.
Wednesday, January 6 holds royal couple New Year's reception for officers from Defence and Emergency Management Agency, I., II. and III. Rank Class and invited representatives of major national organizations and the royal patronage at Christiansborg Palace.

Of course they are  , it's the headline of the day. DR is also going on about it. I can't understand much, but I do hear the words for prince consort and pension a lot, especially in the interviews.
Princess Marie wears white (or very light pink?) and of course he wedding tiara. Erm, what uniform is Joachim wearing? It's not his usual blue one, but looks like a navy uniform like Frederik?
edit: Mary in midnight blue velvet with the ruby tiara. No necklace,
edit: The Queen with the pearl poire parure, her grey-bue gown and the her husband by her side.

Looks like Mary reworked her gown from the Bambi Awards. And maybe the top is her velour cape? Or perhaps just new. Either way, simply gorgeous. And a pretty new gown for Marie. She seems to really like the peplum type gowns.
