I did enjoy the large extended family pix some years back, pre twins or so to get to know who is who. The informal picture of the queen with her grandchildren released the other day is enough for me. Rather than concentrate on Frederick and Joachim, I think it is rather that the queen is a widow, and getting older. Her sister is a widow too. Having the families of their children visiting, if they wish, instead of everyone all at once is probably easier for the queen

QMII went out on the stairs, alone.
Alexandra of Berleburg/Egeskov and her Count Michael were standing in the background.

So M&F must have left.

And a gallery from today

A shame that Mary, Frederik and the kids didn't stay longer but nice to see that Alexandra and her family are keeping QMII company even without Benedikte there. QMII has always seemed very fond of Alexandra.

Ah, so they have gone to Skagen, the very most northern town in DK.

I believe it's "Copenhagener-week" at the moment, as the locals call it.
That means a lot of affluent Copenhageners migrate from their natural habitat, the posh neighborhoods north of Copenhagen, to their summer cottages in and around Skagen. - Where they mingle with the same people, they mingle with for the rest of the year...

The locals have studied that phenomenon for years now, with considerable amazement and amusement. While fleecing the Copenhageners. - Skagen ain't cheap at this time of year!

A few mood-photos from Skagen. No wonder the classical painters descended on the place in droves back in 1880-1910.

Muhler, thank you for the virtual sightseeing. What are the tourists eating at those picnic tables, most likely?

That's right.

The restaurant, Skagen Fiskerestaurant, is famous for it's cuisine with fresh fish. And they are fresh! Delivered directly from the fishing boats, that are only out for a few hours.
So the fish on your plate was perhaps swimming around happily in the sea, no more than three-five hours before.
You shouldn't think a few hours would make a difference, but it does.
That's why it's so popular to buy your fish directly from the fishing boats.

The restaurant is always packed!
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UpW0JFyREK...0/PICT0810.JPG
Here is a dish with fresh potatoes and butter sauce.
And of course to fish you need a locally made schnapps, a "bjesk". There are countless of them, flavored in all sorts of ways, depending what ingredients are used in the schnapps.
Apart from the bjesk you will need a cool beer fresh from the tap.
There are barbarians who insist on having wine with their fresh fish. Or, good heavens, fizzy water like Cola. - Or even worse, water! I mean, how low can you go?!?

Yes, I can easily think of other reasons why they stopped these staged photo shoots than a feud between the brothers.

1. Queen Margrethe is not like Queen Ingrid. Queen Ingrid was a family-woman, very motherly and grandmotherly, who enjoyed gathering her family around her. I think Prince Henrik was family-oriented too but not Queen Margrethe. I can easily imagine her getting irritated if too many family members, especially lively and noisy ones, are around her at the same time.
2. The CP family also stopped the photo shoots during their winter-holidays.
And I think that's probably because the children did not like it. The same goes for Joachim's children, Princess Athena definitely gave the impression of reluctancy to pose for the media at her first school day.
I know media people don't like to hear this but it's probably not enjoyable for the children and something they feel forced to do, bordering on child abuse. Being photographed while receiving flowers from the ringriders or while watching the Hubertus Hunt or while participating in the Royal Run is probably a more natural setting, with the attention not just focused on the hord of photographers.
3. As for Joachim not being there since years. There doesn't necessarily have to be a feud with his brother, there could just as well be one with his mother ( he missed her birthday too, didn't he). But I think he simply didn't enjoy being completely in the shadow of the CP family and the Regent couple. He probably thought it wouldn't make a difference whether he and his family is there or not.

Exactly to both 1. and 2.

Queen M really doesn't seem to be the sort of grandmother (or mother) who would want to have 4 (or even more) lively, energetic kids around her for very long. "Nice when they come and nice when they leave" - is something I read QM saying in some article not long ago but I can't remember where. Perhaps this is a case of Frederik and Joachim and their wives knowing their mother/mother in law and that's why they don't stay long after she's arrived.

Thanks, Polyesco.

According to the article a couple of friends from Australia sailed to meet M&F and stay with them at Gråsten Manor. During the stay the CP family went for a cruise in waters near Gråsten.

Yes, it was nice to see them there indeed. Benedikte and Margrethe really resemble each other strongly!

Some trivia from QMII's stay at Gråsten, as reported in Billed Bladet #30, 2019.
Written by the esteemed Ulrik Ulriksen.

There really isn't much new!
QMII arrived at Gråsten and was received by the CP-family, who posed for a few shots, that were uploaded on the DRF account.
The CP-family left the next day.

A few days later Benedikte arrived together with Alexandra and her daughter, as well as her new husband Count Ahlefeldt. (I wonder if Benedikte stayed at Egeskov Castle.)
And they were indeed in the background, when QMII watched the changing of the guards at noon Friday.
As usual a lot of locals as well as tourists also watched.
The music corps played a number of tunes, at least one of which must have made QMII, as well as quite a few family members to the serving guardsmen smile. A song called: Åh, Marie, jeg vil hjem til dig - Oh Marie, I wanna go home to you. - A song about a lonely conscript, who miss his sweetheart and dream about her on the watch, ending up in the gaol.

As always QMII attends service in Gråsten palace church on Sundays.
As you may recall QMII made a new antependium, this Sunday a new chasuble worn by the priest was used for the first time. That is also made by QMII. And both the chasuble and the antependium replace the ones made by Queen Ingrid back in 1943.
The color of the lining is a nod to the color chosen by Queen Ingrid.
Making the chasuble QMII used a technique that hasn't been used in DK for 40 years. It's called petitpoint. - I'll leave it to people more in the know than me, to explain further.

QMII, with her family in the background, was the one who received the countless flowers during the ring rider procession. Our reporter noticed that QMII was a little reluctant when some of the large horses were a little unruly. But Benedikte who is much more well-versed in regards to horses stepped in and had a calming effect.

Here is this weeks issue of BB.
I have added a little about other royal families, because I was in the mood. I haven't noticed before that Ariane wear braces.
https://app.box.com/s/avx1rzs04v78lrryj43cunblli18h3nl

And here is Egeskov Castle:
http://images6.fanpop.com/image/phot...9-1024-768.jpg

And the song, I trust you understand and sympathize with the poor and hopeless conscript.
