Thanks to one & all for the pics and links!!
Love the group picture w/Christian holding his hand over his mouth to keep from giggling out loud over the dogs doing what they were doing.
And then there was Josephine...She is w/out a doubt Bella's little Jedi Apprentice. 😄😄😄
After the tragic news from Nice and the news from Turkey today...These were a badly needed pick me up.

Thanks for,all the lovely pic and explanations. Is it always that cold there in summer? And yes, with all their work travel, I agree they don't want to travel on vacation with kids, just to be"home"

It's not uncommon. That's coastal climate for you.
The most normal is 20-25 C, alternating between sunny days and rainy days.
But every three or four years is either blistering hot or cold and rainy like it is this year.

It seems like this year will enter the annals as the Year of the Dachshunds...
It seems like Vincent was about to follow the dogs out of the side entrance. (actually the entrance the DRF use on a daily basis while at Gråsten) That's the photo of Vincent standing flanked by PET.
Becaue BB wrote that the dogs darted out from that door.
You are going to enjoy this two minutes video from BB, especially those of you who have a soft spot for Bella and Josephine. VIDEO: Prinsesse Isabella overraskede på Gråsten | BILLED-BLADET
This takes place at noon, when the changing of the guards takes place, about twenty minutes or so after the photo session, so QMII has had time to change into something more comfortable.
As you know PH and an adjutant ran off with the children and they only returned when the changing of the guard took place, so the tambur-major had to step back to let PH pass.
While Bella followed behind.
After the official photoshoot Josephine played fetch with her brother, throwing a tennis ball - oh, a dog also played along...

That final shot of Josephine hamming it up while dancing is just great!
You can say what you want about Prince Henrik but he certainly seems a loving and fun grandfather!

Once they become the regent couple, it is also almost certain that it will be very much expected of them to take up residence at Marselisborg to maintain the DRF affiliation with Aarhus. - They take that very serious in Aarhus!
So IMO M&F might just as well get used to every summer to hop around from Fredensborg to Marselisborg to Gråsten to Trend and back to Fredensborg. With perhaps one week going south to sun and beaches - at most and not every summer.
As long as the Regent Couple is alive and active M&F can skip Marselisborg in the summer, but that won't last.

I'm sure they'll be able to sneak off to tropical beaches if they want to, they'll just do so without anyone knowing it and at another timing. If it hadn't been for that credit card scandal a couple of years ago no tabloid would have caught wind of their stay in Thailand (or was it some other place?) with the kids either I guess.

What a thrill little video! You can't but just sit back with a smile on your face.
Isabella really rocking that golf cart and Josephine's dance moves at the end is really like watching Bella at that age.
The genes can't be denied in the CP family.. Neither Christian and Vincent who in physics are so similar to their father.

I've never thought to ask - what mode of travel does the family generally use as they move from this house to that one? Auto, I'm assuming? Rail?

In this case the Regent Couple sailed aboard Dannebrog to the town of Sønderborg and was driven to Gråsten from there.
M&F likely drove either from Copenhagen or Trend.
The Berleburgs would have driven. Benedikte usually drive from Berleburg to Copenhagen and just like most Germans don't consider that an issue. Not on the autobahns there.

Bella drove the golf-car. That's one of the great things about being with your grandparents (and uncles) you are often allowed to do things your parents say no to.

Thanks Muhler! Agree about the dachshund photo and feel that a caption contest is called for. After all the troubles in southern Europe, let the North be a source of laughter and delight! Here's my entry and a challenge to forum members and guests....

It is confirmed that the DRF, including M&F and children will be present at the ringrider procession tomorrow Sunday.
Tarzan skal hilse på Mary | Sønderborg | jv.dk
Because this is the story about six year old Sasha, who rides Tarzan. She will take part in the procession tomorrow.
And Josephine has borrowed Sasha's riding boots while at Gråsten, because the two girls share the same size.
- So keep a lookout for a girl around six who may have a special rapport with Josephine tomorrow.

Thanks for the many photos and links, the photos show a loving and happy family.
Have just seen a small clip on the Today breakfast show on channel nine, it looked very windy and cold but everyone looked to be enjoying the time with each other.
The photos of Vincent and Josephine bringing the flowers to Mary are so sweet. I think we have seen Vincent do these before, perhaps in Greenland

I've really been enjoying following the summer excursions and family get togethers and the interactions with the public and the generous amount of photos that shows a very close and caring family (including the dogs... can't exclude the dogs as prime family members).
As its been quite hot and uncomfortable in my little neck of the woods, the cooler temperatures, to me, make life so much more bearable and fun to be able to take part in so many different fun pastimes as seen in the photos.
Ahhhh... life is sweet.

I think it makes sense that as Frederik and his family become more and more important and prominent in the functioning of the Danish royal court, Joachim and his family will drop off the radar to a corresponding degree. Frederik and Mary will start to have more privileges but also more responsibility. Joachim and Marie will have fewer privileges but more freedom. More freedom to, for example, not holiday at Grasten if they'd rather be in France!
That being said, Mary and Frederik seem to have taken to Grasten like ducks to water these past couple of summers. It doesn't look like they see "having" to vacation there as any sort of hardship. :)

I completely agree. And having a beautiful castle with a large park to your disposal for a few weeks in the summer isn't so bad, is it?

First photos but apparently no M&F and children: https://www.facebook.com/6400nyt/pho...70145759702652
That's a big disappointment.
For us but also the girl who looked forward to presenting flowers to Mary.
